Hi to all my fellow Haciendians

This is my first post on the forum.

Myself & my wife are completing on phase 4 in Jan. 2008 (at last)....

I have a couple of questions that I hope some of you guys/gals can help me with.

We are looking at buying furniture/electric goods in England & then get them shipped out to Spain.

This is all new to us so bare with me....

With regards to electric goods (white), I take it that there is no problem with regards to electric supply, in other words, if we buy in UK they will work fine in Spain?

Likewise with the TV, I take it that we will just have to connect a cable to the arial socket & tune the TV in?

I know this sounds like basic stuff, but I would hate to get out to Spain & find that we have made a big mistake.

Cheers

Cliff

Most people would normally buy their large white goods in Spain....there is as much choice in Spain in the large Electrical Discount stores and some Spanish brands which are as good, if not better....and you get the 2 years warranty. If you buy in the UK then you dont have any, or very difficult.

Small electricals, irons, toasters,  work  ok with either a new plug or an adapter....but again why would you bother. Just buy in Spain and they have the correct rating and plug already attached.

You may also want to arrange with your electrical installer to have your main apartment voltage fuse to be up-rated. Most Polaris apartments have a small rated main fuse and can quite easily blow ('trip') if you use a few appliances at once, even such as Microwaves or toasters may blow it. Most people on the LT resort have done this. It only costs about 30 euros.

I believe there can be problems with UK TV's and Video/DVD recorders also.....so again beware....you can get round it by tuning your TV using a Spanish recorder...but it can be a hit/miss affair... again why would you bother buying in UK and have no warranty.

Furniture is ok.

Other than furniture, the only people I know that have brought from UK are people who are moving out completely.

If you put 'will UK electrical goods work in Spain' into your internet search...you will get some more useful info.
