Has anybody else bought their Al Andalus property through MacAnthony Realty. If so, what problems have you had with them.

My experience with them has been a nightmare, nothing they said/ promised me when I bought the property has happened or been realised.

My wife and I applied for NIE number in April 2007, actually we did apply earlier because MRI said they could do it on our behalf, only for them later to tell us "oops" they no longer can. The money I spent on notaries and apostillians was a waste not to mention my time standing in the rain in London outside some government building. It took until the 21 January 2008 to finally get our NIE numbers. Our lawyers in Spain were useless and only did anything after I threatened them with legal action and me flying out to Almeria and kicking their rear ends. MRI for all their, "we will help you every step of the way" promise, what a load of rubbish.  My "dedicated" client liasion person changed every 3 months and never did a hand over to the next person. Therefore nothing ever got done and we were never informed about all the "changes" in the property law which just seemed to cost us more and more money.

Every person, institution, government local and national in Spain who had the slightest to do with my property purshase charged me a fee. I would not be surprised if I am mentioned in the Spainish Government's annual budget report as a source of foreign revenue for them. I shall end my rant and rave here because I can go on allot longer.

Has anybody else had similar experiences.

We bought on AA, but Resort not Thalassa via MRI. Lots of stories to be told by the salesman on the trip, but they were mostly blocked up after genning iup on various forums. Once the holding deposit was paid, they took a back seat, that far back it must have been in a different theatre!!!!

Our solicitor got POA for us, yes, it is still possible to be done by a third party but only in some provinces. Our solicitor collected ours from Cartagena.

Would I recommend tem? Not on your nelly!!!!!

Maybe all those people who have had a nightmare experience in the hands of MRI should compile a dossier of complaints and hand it over to BBC's Watchdog, I'm pretty certain that they would be interested in your stories, and if only one person walks away before MRI leads them up a garden path and promises them the earth without a cat-in-hells chance of being able to deliver, then something good will have come from this sorry debacle!

They might have sharp-suited sales staff who drive impressive cars, but you can't disguise the smell of sheer desperation!!!!!  They'll offer you the world in an attempt to get your signature and, more importantly, the money! Perhaps they should wear masks and carry swag-bags? At least you could then recognise their true vocation!!!
