I'm sure other people must have considered this but I talked to my agent about snagging and asked if they recomended getting an independent prof snagging list done. To my surprise they said in their experience people just did their own and...Mahersol were a company they had done business with before without any difficulties.
Are people doing their own snagging, does anyone have building experience or work in surveying or lastly has anyone got a company in mind and or might we be advised to get organised and approach a company as a group to negotiate a discount for multiple properties. Just some thoughts for you all to consider now that we are nearing completion. Hasta luego, Stuart

Stuart,
we seem to be on the same wavelength on this subject. We have just made contact with the following guys and are awaiting a response: http://www.inspectahomespain.com/
Whilst the builder seems reputable enough and our agent ok, one can never be 100% sure. It's a long way to Spain and back for a row about snags! The builder and agent work together to complete (in my experience) their transaction as swiftly and easily as possible for them both.
We are going to get our place inspected before completion independently and for the cost - seems to be a couple of hundred quid - it appears to be money well spent. I have asked about a discount if there 's more thn one inspection at the same time. I'll let you know what comes of it.
Regards,
James & Joanne (No.10).

Hi,
I have just received some information back from the inspectahome company regarding snagging inspections. Please Private message me with your email address and I will send reply with the pdf files and a copy of the email that their guy Ron has replied with. He says that he has dealt with our builder before.
Regards,
James.

Just sent in a private reply. If a few of us get together on this we could get a good rate for bulk booking. Although I'd intended doing a DIY snagging, it was pointed out that it could be problematic having our own snagging list translated into Spanish for the builders, so I think we'll give that a miss, and as suggested, might be money very well spent. Thanks everyone.

I have sent out a collection of e-mail enquiries earlier this afternoon asking companies about snagging...
"I am one of a group of new owners completing on our 2 bed apartments (Mahersol) in Cox, Costa Blanca in early April. Can you please give an indication of your fees (in euros incl IVA) for snagging inspections including f/up inspection of repairs etc for 2 bed apartments. And indicate what, if any, discount you are prepared to offer for multiple inspections on the same site? Thank you Stuart."
Have received three replies so far ranging from €232 incl IVA up to €350 + IVA as base prices for 1 apartment. If people are interested you can send me private message and I'll forward replies as I get them. Then perhaps we can make a group arrangement if the price and company suits people. The best is often not the cheapest! Stuart.

Just a thought for any of us that bought via Parador, should the 'snagging' issue be checked by the 'owners club'? I know that they are not professional but they must have someone who can help.

Hi, we are buying via Parador and are members of the Owners Club. I contacted them a few weeks ago about the snagging and was told they do a check of the obvious things but it's not, from what I gather, very detailed. Inspectahome (and probably the others) claim to do a 650 point check including voltage of electricity, plumb lines on walls (though how you'd set about putting that to rights if it's out, heaven only knows!) and any water leaks. Maybe the agents (like ourselves) would only be looking for the obvious such a marks on walls, doors, glass etc. I think we're now going to bite the bullet and pay up.
