I have spoken to Polaris and they have said that if I use them for NIE numbers i cannot receive them until the day I complete.
1. Do I need NIE numbers to to open a bank account.
2. Does CAM Bank offer online banking?
3. Does it require a visit to Spain to set up an account?
Cheers

I have just spoken to Cam and they have said they will set everything up for me but it will require a visit to sign the paperwork, the lady also informed that my local branch would be on Condado Alhama itself !!! so if their bank charges are reasonable definitely worth going with.

I have just received this reply -
Estimated Mr. Tann,
We have a pleasure to inform you about the transfer fees:
Less than 50.000€ : 0,30%
More than 50.000€ : 0,70 %
If you have any question please do not hesitate to contact us.

Which seems a bit much to me, a 50,000 transfer would cost you 150 euros!
Now looking at Halifax, which have a branch in Mazarron, free transfer between Halifax accounts in the UK and Spain.

Any particular reasons?
The free transfer between accounts looks like a winner to me! Most UK banks charge around £20 to transfer money abroad so assuming I need to transfer at least once a year the savings will cover the account charges. And as cam etc want to charge to recieve money ( theving gits ) it will save £300 or so to transfer the balance for the final payment.

I think it was for hidden charges, I believe there are a few threads on here on the general forum.
I was wondering I bank with Barclays and they have a UK Euro account, could I not use moneycorp to transfer euro's into this account and then use this to pay bills with?
Or am I missing something here

Hi again,
looking through the other threads the main problem seems to be that they give a low exchange rate. But, looking at the halifax spain web site they do not make any charge to reviece transfers, so I can transfer from any account in the UK or through a exchange agent to get the best rate and not get charged at the spanish end. which is still better than cam.
