Has any one used DFS based in San Javier. I'm sure I have seen them recommended but cant find the thread. Having seen their website I'm wishing we visited last week when over. Part of their blurb taks about the fact they have furnished other Polaris resorts and have furniture to suit Polaris room sizes plus you can create your own furniture pack right down to lighting and cutlery.

We did have a look when we went out a few months ago and they have some nice furniture, one thing I like about DFS is you know they are going to be around for a while and will not go bust on you like some of these other Furniture stores.

I have also been recommended Villpac, they have 2 branches in the UK as well as Spain, I spoke to them yesterday and they are sending me brochures etc.

They have a showroom in your neck of the woods so it may well be worth you having a look at what they have to offer.

Thank you Danseex. I will have a look at Villpac and get a brochure. Its useful they have stores over in the UK.

DFS advertise furniture packs and give prices for various of these but they arn't exactly what we want and may have furniture that is too big or too much for a room. But they will create a pack that suits.  I have emailed them and they suggest looking at the site and emailing with the name of a suite or number of beds or whatever and they will email back sizes and prices. However they dont have a brochure/price list of their general stock so it's a bit laborious via email. However they will go to a property and measure and advise -once its released. Initially I thought they may be connected to DFS in the Uk but they are not.

Guys

I don't know if you want other companies to compare, etc but I have been recommended a company called sf-supplies. Apparently they carried out some work for someone on another PW resort. The owner keeps keeping in touch even though I won't need his services yet...I'm on Los Naranjos. He has a web-site so it might be looking them up for comparison purposes. I believe he is based locally as well and offers numerous services including snagging, furniture, AC, etc....

Let me know how you get on.

Phil

Lytton

Can you give us the web site address for sf-supplies?

When we went to Murcia in October, we went to DFS furnishings on recommendation and they had lots of brochures to look at for furniture as well as a few display items.  As we were in a rush we didn't have time to look at the brochures but we've been told that they give a good service.

Mike, The web-site address is www.sf-supplies.com

Matt Brookes is the contact. As I said, I haven't personally used them yet and I don't know how they compare with other people who are no doubt going to be touting for the vast amount of work required when the appartments are finished.

My agent who I'm buying through is also making a list of contacts so he can pass on to his customers who have bought through him so I may give him a call soon and ask who he would recommend.

Phil

PS....Sorry,  bad day, had this sent as a PM to Mike by mistake so posted it so other people could make their enquiries if they want to.

We furnished our villa using DFS at San Javier and were very happy with the goods and the service. Paul, the owner was very patient with us and provided written quotes by e-mail. It was clear what each item costs and it was very easy to pick and choose exactly what you wanted. There was never any pressure. I think you have to visit the shop to decide because the range of furniture is enormous.

We looked at Villa Pac but it would have cost a lot more for similar furniture. Also, we found it hard to know how much each item was costing. It was always quoted as a final price. Their system wasn't as flexible and there was more pressure to place an order on the day saying that the offer price could not be held etc.

jogary- thanks for the information.

DFS (Paul) was helpful in the emails and we do plan to do a visit eventually- although it will now be a little while before we go back over.

I'm just keen to have some sizes for furniture for that living room in the 2 bed! So I expect to go back to their web site and select a few items and email them for prices and sizes.

Villapac are sending us a brochure

Hi everyone

I am new to the Forum.  I am buying a 2 bed apartment in Jardines 6 (7) and my parents are buying 3 bed apartment below.

I have come across this website:

 http://www.furniturepackagesjardinesdealhama.co.uk/?gclid=CI-bkKqby5ECFQNvEgodEVKG4Q  also at this website:

http://www.murciafurniture.com

Has anyone come across this company?  How do they rate in terms of price and service?

Folks

We have dealt with a number of Spanish furniture companies (some personally as well as indirectly), all listed (and more) with the exception of SF-supplies.  All will be clamouring to get your business and all have their own selling points that will either matter to you or not.  The best thing to do is to visit a few when you are across and make sure you think on the following lines: -

  • Discuss with them what you plan to do with your property - rent / own use etc.
  • Ensure they know the size of the property as to what will fit and look good - lots of cluttered properties out there due to overzealous salesmen/women
  • Be comfortable with the quality
  • Like buying the property (and then being told to add 12% for iva & costs), do the same with furniture
  • Furniture companies will try to sell you everything, kitchenware, bathroomware, electrical - be aware that they buy these in and will want to make margin
  • Make sure that they pre-inspect you property to make sure all will look good and measure up
  • Make sure they offer to clean before and after the install - be aware that Polaris will clean your property prior to snagging sign-off
  • BE PATIENT - I have not seen one furniture install go to plan yet with multiple visits for forgotten and wrong items.
  • There are lots of competitor firms out there so don't be afraid to ask for a discount!

Like anything else in life, make sure you purchase from a company that you feel will give you an overall sense of comfort, value for money and professionalism.

As always, if anyone needs advice or help just email or PM.

Alan & Lynn
