Fortuna golf, what do we do now?

          Can anyone out there help! 

We were told in December that our apartment would be completed mid January so we sent the solicitors in Spain the money to pay for our Purchase in Mid January, some 200000.00 + euro. We only completed this week because of, as far as we are concerned the total lack of competancey  of our solicitor. My question to you is, am I due Interest on the money deposited isn their  customer account ?

I would expect and demand the interest back from any solocitor in the uk but unsure of what happens in Spain.  Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that you have had such a bad experience, yours is not a rare experience unfortunately.

You should be entitled to some sort of compensation, assuming you had the 200,000 euros in a current account over in Spain, you could have expected to earn about 3% you may have to pay tax on that, but assuming 3% net, also the fact that they have had your money for 2 and a half months, they have made somewhere in the region of 1,250 euros from your money, not bad really.

I am certain you will have to make some sort of complaint, you would need to "denounce" the lawyer and for that you may need to use the services of another lawyer, it could be a case of "throwing good money after bad" if you want the details of a fantastic lawyer based in San Javier, send me a PM and I will be happy to provide their details.

No help to you Margaret, however there is a lesson here for all to learn, keep your money in your own account in Spain or the UK, it really can be very quick to transfer money these days, only send the money to the lawyer at the last minute, or even get a bankers draft made payable to the developer, only once you are satisfied that your are going to "complete" and once you have had a firm appointment at the public notary office, the bankers draft will cost a few euros, but nothing like the money that Margaret has lost, or never earned!

Where was your local agent in this instance? This should form part of the aftersales service, I hope this is of some use Margaret.

We are now at the stage of renting our apartment out and building a website for such. We were wondering if anyone out there can confirm the amount of discount we and our guests are entitled to on facilities. Are we both entitled to the same? We have picked up our owners discount card so will have no problem claiming our discount but how do guests go about claiming theirs. Any confirmation or further information on the discount scheme will be much appreciated as we have never used this offer as yet.

Hello June

We have just returned from Roda and were unable to collect our owners discount cards.  It was all a bit of a joke really because last year we received a letter from Roda telling us to register online (which we did) and then collect our cards from the Club House when we visited.  On the Monday the guy in the pro shop told us they were not ready (we registered two months ago!) and to come back on Tuesday.  On the Tuesday a different guy told us that they did not deal with this any more and we should go to customer services.  Customer services then sent us to the office at the end.  I think this is Calidona and we met the secretary who could not find us on the computer at all!  Finally it was established that  the person that actually did the cards was off at the time of the visit so they told us not to bother.  We met a few other residents and they said that they had no problems getting discounts without cards. They also rented their properties and their guests had no problems too.  It all seems a bit lapse!

With regard to discounts this is what the letter we received from Roda told us.  30% discount on green fees, 10% discount in the Club House Restaurant, and 10% discount on property rentals.  Tenants get a 10% discount in the restaurant and 20% discount on green fees if the rental is not managed by Calidona rentals and services.  Tenants renting via Roda get 30% discount.   Hope this helps and is still correct.  They do have a habit of changing things!

Thank you for your response and useful information with regards the discount. We had a similar problem initially we tried to collect our discount cards and had to wait until our second trip over before finally collecting them. Hope all goes well for you.

Hi All

We are in the middle of creating a website for our apartment and need a little help on our Directions page. We have the directions to Roda Golf from both Alicante and San Javier Airports using car. What we are looking for are any other instructions using bus or rail that would be of any use to our renters who do not wish to drive. Anyone with information on buses or trains servicing the airports to anywhere near Roda. All help greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I think you are right, there are not many options if anything at all to and from the airports to Roda other than taxis. We also have our own keyholder who is prepared to pick clients up from the airport for a small fee but thank you on your offer. We are at the stage of creating our web site on our apartment and just wanted to give the viewers as many choices as possible on transport.
