Would I be wright in thinking that Polaris World provides a cable TV system to all properties on the development and that you can then subscribe to TV packages they offer?

Do you know exactly what Polaris World packages are and how much they cost?

I thick I remember being told by a rep that you pay a one off payment to Polaris World which wasn’t a lot and you can choose the TV package you would like such as Sky, he said they provide this at a reasonable cost so people don’t start trying to put up satellite dishes which they don’t want  (not always a reliable source of information though)?

We went over to see the show apartment last week and we asked about the tv.  Polaris rep told us satellite dishes will NOT be allowed and to subscribe to their cable tv is going to be 34 Euros a month.  Don't know how reliable his info is as we asked a few questions while we were there and his answers seem to contradict other info which I have read on this site..........If you ask me it seems one person gives one anwer and a different person will give you another answer on just about every issue!

In La Torre there was a one off fee of 400€ for the basic package which included all ITV and BBC channels, not channel 4 and not channel 5. You also get sky news, CBBC and various other channels.

However, we have been told that they are starting to charge residents at Mar Menor monthly subscriptions for this.

Polaris seem to be giving us basic of everything on this site so it wouldn't suprise me if they try to get a monthly subscription from us straight away.

 

We will want internet access too. My husband also asked about being able to buy from other providers but was told this wont be possible- needs wall to wall football access!

I was reading on the Polaris website that you can have a 1MB connection for 32€ a month although not sure how up to date this info is.

We've just come back from La Torre where we had our laptop. You can purchase 'Areanet' cards from the supermarket and use them to gain internet access just plug a network cable from a socket in your property to your computer. These were 7€ for 150 mins and 12€ for 300 mins suits us fine for a holiday  but would work out expensive if you wanted a continuous connection.

I had intended to get a freeview box to start with since I won't be there full-time.  Does anyone know if they work ok over there?  I am going to Spain tomorrow for a week so will try to get as many answers as I can on the subject.

I've heard that they don't work but don't take my word on it. I know people have took there sky box and card over, the sky box will connect to the wall connection plate via a small 2€ connection piece. This seems to have worked ok but Polaris somehow block the programs that are available on there package.ie ITV & BBC

Have now found this information on the website (dont know how I missed it before as I've been on hundreds of times) TV prices on there relate to Mar Menor and La Torre but it does quote 3 types of internet access starting at 1mb for 32euro's pmonth. Having these services is a difficult issue in some ways if you dont expect to be able to use the apartment month in month out. I expect we'd use the payment cards for internet accces in the first instance and wait and see what the options are for TV.

I have been looking on this and other forums at the TV provision that Polaris World (PW) are providing and it seems with this and other issues (security shutters, Broadband, Fixtures & Fittings, Maintenance charges, the list goes on) PW are just moving the goalpost as they wish because all these thing are not in your contract so you are not able to prove what is and isn’t to be included.

For example:

I was told that we would have A TV Package provided for a small one off charge and no monthly subscription and it would include the full Sky package.

I was told we would have security shutters on doors and windows.

I was told in Sep 07 Maintenance charge would be in line with that charged at other PW complexes and presently it was about 70 Euros a month.

I could go on.

I was told all these things and more both by PW representatives and by in my case Parador representative, I asked a PW Rep how I new all these thing would be provided and could I have them in writing. I was told this was not possible and you just have to trust us to provide the things we say we will and was assured they are not in the game of making false promises.

Well I believe thing you are promised from sales people and other official representatives are just as much part of your contract as the contract itself (Verbal contract).

The problem is proving it?

Well on other PW complexes some people are starting to get themselves organised into action groups to pressure PW into providing things as promised.

We should be doing the same by:

Properly forming a pressure group.

Raising awareness of its existence.

Listing the issues of concern.

Collating our verbal evidence.

Pressuring PW to provide the thing it told us would be provided.

Has anyone any experience of this sort of thing particularly any of you with legal background or who have property on other PW Complexes. Any thoughts or comments welcome but don’t put them on this post I will set up a new post and call it “Condado Pressure Group” so please put your responses on that forum.

My belief is moaning doesn’t work but action can.
