Hi all,

Has anyone received a valuation notice for IBI yet?  If they have been posted, I dread to think where the information has ended up!!

If not, is this something we can obtain from the Town Hall in Manilva or when can we expect to receive it?

If no IBI, what figures/information have other people used to complete their Spanish tax returns?

Any help appreciated.

Many thanks

Michelle & Alex

Hi Alex

If you go to the Patronato de Recaudacion office in Manilva main street next to the new Police station building. Take NIE certificate, Escitura, bank details with a statement, and Passport you can set up standing order. Or you get document to take to the bank to pay in cash or at your own bank.

PS if you miss a year then you pay interest, admin and costs on top of the bill.

Also you pay Car Tax here if you have a Spanish registered car, again if you are late with this costs etc. are added. (as I found out last week on my car!!!)

PS they don't  speak English, but if I am around I can go up there with you and help as my Spanish is enough.

Jeff,

I've not had any IBI tax bill although purchasing last May.

Municipal property tax.
Spanish name Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles (IBI)
Description This tax is the Spanish equivalent of the rates and is collected by local government.
Tax base and rate The tax base is the cadastral value of the property and the rate varies from 0.4% to 1.1% depending upon the region.

Do you know if there is a phone number or address one could write to get a copy of the IBI invoice.

I am also about to pay may Spanish Wealth Tax and it seems useful to obtain certain information off the IBI bill :-  e.g. Referencia Catastral and the valor catastral.

I guess I'm not the only person in the situation - give our postal service to date.

Whilst we've got all year to pay the wealth tax but it's a concern that penalties might become due on the IBI which is very frustrating.
Seem like setting up a DD but having an  invoice is really useful.

Of course the good news is that this year is the very last time we will need to fill a form 214 for both the Wealth Tax and the last year for
Impuesto de la renta de no residentes, y Patrimonio (IRNR y Patrimonio).  i.e.    we pay  the taxes for 2007 in 2008 and thats the end of it !!

I saw this was in both parties Spanish election campaigns  and the Government enacted it promptly.

regards,
Paul
Hurray !!!

Hi Paul,

Still no sign of our IBI tax bill either!

In the end we decided to pay to get someone else to sort out our Spanish tax.  Fees were extremely reasonable and included in the price is access to their knowledge with regard to any other Spanish tax questions/issues you may have for 12 months.  Worth every penny to get someone else to work it all out and pay it on our behalf.  The company are based in the UK (so no expensive phone calls and its all in plain English) but they have representatives based in Spain.  We have been very impressed with their services and prices!  If anyone would like their details please PM me.

You just scan & email, or post copies of all your Spanish documentation to them.  They work out how much tax you owe and let you know how they have arrived at that figure.  You give them the OK and they do all the paperwork and payments in Spain on your behalf - brilliant!

As we did not have a copy of our IBI we gave them a copy of our purchase deeds, the part they needed was titled "Escritura de Compraventa".  They used information from this to produce our figures.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Michelle
