Hi guys
Could you advise me who is the best person to contact at CAM Bank regarding a mortgage? I submitted my documentation by post back in March which was confirmed as received by CAM Bank. I have been dealing with Marisa (Ma Isabel Carrion Jimenez) but seemed to have lost all communication with her.
Anyone else I can email or call?

We have been dealing with Eva and up to us posting the information out on 8th May she did respond quickly to any enquiry. A week after posting the pack out I emailed just to check it had arrived and got no response. After 1 further email with no reply, last Tuesday I telephoned and spoke to her colleague who was able to tell me that the information had arrived but there were a few additional things they needed. If I hadnt phoned I've no idea how long we would have waited before they told us there were further things needed. We actually weren't trying to hurry them up we just needed to know that all our personal details weren't somewhere in the ether. So, below is the number we had been given and it did take us right to Eva's desk
Tel: 968 56 60 06 Fax: 968 33 40 08

Hi
I spoke to Marisa today to confirm she had received all cos required and once she had gone away and checked she confirmed that all was there but it will another 2-3 weeks before I get a response to whether or not they are going to offer me the mortgage, I have had smae as everyone else no communication .
Mary they shut at 3pm Spanish time so unless you call them before 1.30pm ish our time you never get to speak to anyone as they seem to avoid answering calls after this time to avoid finsihing late !!!!
Hope that helps
Carol

I had the same problems. I got so fed up that I decided to go to a mortgage broker who got me the formal offer of advance within 48 hours from Bancaja at Euribor +0.9% on a 5 year interest only /25 year deal. He will charge me a few hundred euros for his efforts no doubt but the prospect of being in breach of contract with PW and them hammering me for squillions of dosh just didn't appeal. And the peace of mind - priceless.......

We've still not had our offer from CAM Bank through. Marisa has emailed me over a month ago saying she had all the documents she needed but then Polaris emailed last week to say CAM were still waiting for stuff from us. I emailed CAM to check and they now want copies of our receipts for payments made to date and a copy of the whole purchase agreement. Not completing until 30th June so still have a few weeks to sort it out...

Hi All
As per AJW I went through a broker and got an answer the next day after faxing all the relevant paperwork. I went through mortgages4spain.com (stefan Onsmark) must say I can't fault him so far communication is first class and replies promptly. They charge 348 euros (plus IVA) which is well worth it to avoid all the stress and a lot cheaper than a lot of the other brokers.
Well worth speaking to.

Our builders mortgage is with Banco Popular, and they responded within days of me e-mailing them, still not sure what the best way to finance my final payment, however still got sometime as the indication is that our appartment won't be completed until late 2008.

Hi everyone,
If it's of interest, we got our mortgage offer from CAM bank by e-mail today but have had to do a lot of chasing up since we started the process at the end of April. I found the best way to speak to anyone was to call at 8am UK time.
The offer wasn't quite what we expected, the rate was euribor +1.1%, not +1% that I had been offered on the telephone. Not much different I know but it all counts. Also, they want information from us so they can quote us for life insurance which looks like it is a condition of getting the mortgage. This hasn't been mentioned until now so I have e-mailed back asking if it is compulsory. I'll post the response when I get it. Has anyone else been asked about this?
Regards
Tim

Debbie,
Thanks for that. I'm assuming that was a confirmed written offer? Did they require you to have life insurance as well? It would be really useful to know before I bend their ear tomorrow.
Thanks
Tim

I got Euribor + 1% from CAM Bank too, although as Payton says below, the condition attached to this is that you cannot get any further reductions even if you later decide to take more of their products. I dealt with Eva and once she knows you are interested responded promptly. The offer only took a few days to come through.
Re life insurance, don't think this is mandatory, but they do recommend it. They ask for info on height, weight, whether you smoke or not, and whether you participate in any high risk sports.

I'm arranging mine through Cam - certainly not aware of their Life Ins being compulsory, it sounds like they're hoping you buy from them. A property ins is a condition of the mortgage however.
One thing to bear in mind when taking out any Life Ins in Spain is that any money paid to spouse/partner would go to the estate and count towards inheritance tax, at least that's how I understand it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi all
Just to let you know I actually contacted my existing life Insurers and they said my existing policy will still be valid even though I will be living in Spain, not sure if that helps, just thought that if you already have it you may not need a separate one for over there.

I heard back from CAM this morning and they confirmed we can have euribor +1% without contracting any other products.
They also said life insurance was recommended because of the "current economic situation" but that it was not compulsory. If we didn't want it they would tell their Risk Department and it should not be a problem. I guess they just have our interests at heart, bless 'em!

That's good news Tim - pleased you have got it sorted. It's quite a relief when you get the formal approval isn't it - especially with the 'credit crunch' and a lot of the Banks changing their lending criteria.
As a rough guide for others, it seems to be taking about four to five weeks in total for CAM to deal with mortgage applications, although possibly it could take longer as time goes on and they have more to deal with. Parador Properties have told me that virtually all June, July and August is taken up for them with PW completions at Condado.
Good luck to everyone with your mortgage applications!
Debbie
