Hi, I have just taken delivery of a new Samsung LED tv from ECOelectronica-on line who are in  Alicante. Upon opening the box I found that the power cable has been removed. I don`t know whether these cables are a standard fitting in which case I can get one from Waltons. Otherwise it means sourcing one from Samsung. Has anyone purchased a tv cable and from whom. Thanks. Jack.

I just looked at the back of our Samsung, it´s the three pronged type connection the old PC monitors used to use isn´t it? I checked on amazon - they look universal http://www.amazon.com/Prong-12Ft-Power-Cord-Cable/dp/B002WQL9KA - fits Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Sharp etc

If you´re planning on mounting it on a wall you´ll need the cable that has the elbow in it (as opposed to the one contained in the link), otherwise it won´t sit flush. Good luck.

Presumably because he wants to use the TV today.

Always the optimist but shouldnt your first point of contact be the supplier.

Inform them that the TV was supplied without a mains cable and invite them to supply one F.O.C.

Something along the lines of....

Recientemente he comprado un televisor de su compañía. El número de factura es xxxxxxxxx.
El cable del enchufe de la pared a la TV no se encuentra.
Por favor, facilite
de forma gratuita.
Un Saludo

(Name on Invoice)

Contact email is at this link

http://www.ecoelectronica-online.com/index.php?link=form

(Nr. Pedido means order number).

NB...it's just a suggestion...Samsung have a habit of burying the mains cable in the polystyrene packaging in a cut out.

Orinoco... The cable you linked to is a USA mains cable...The wall plug is different and the voltage rating may be incorrect at 110 / 120 volts.

Most PC's use this type of equipment connector, so any PC component or repair shop shoud have stock with the correct Spanish mains connector!.

Hope this helps.

Foxbat, I linked to it to show that the cables are universal, and to give him an idea of what to look for if he goes to an electrical supply store. I wasn´t for one minute suggesting that he should consider ordering a TV power cable from the United States, that would be idiotic.

Point taken!

Didnt mean to suggest for one minute that jack should consider actually buying it!

A similar thing happened to me last year, which is why I can identify with the frustration. I bought a laptop online from the UK, even had the foresight to order a travel plug at the same time, and it arrived minus the power cable. I contacted the supplier, no problem with sending the cable to me, but it was over Christmas and I could have expected to wait 2 weeks for it. So went to the nearest Media Markt and bought a universal cable.

It´s awful having a new toy sat in front of you that you can´t use!

Hi Guys, thank you all very much. The cable end appears to be a universal "figure 8 " which I can pick up from our local feriteria.

Still annoying though and does not instill confidence in ecoelectronica from whom I shall not be purchasing futher items. If only Amazon delivered tv`s to spain this would not have happened. Jack.

Hi, Amazon only deliver tv`s up to screen size 26 inch. I shall get my blu ray player and humax freesat receiver from them. Also their basic hdmi cables once I can figure out what goes where. Still it should keep me busy for a few months !!!!!

It´s well worth looking at a Samsung Blu Ray if you have a Samsung TV, the remotes operate both appliances, which is handy in our house where remotes appear to grow legs and go walkabout, often for weeks at a time.

Hi Orinoco, I meant to ask you which blu ray player you bought. I have come down to sony BDP 370 or an Lg BD 460. Cheers Jack

BD-C5500 - Was a while back, very cheap (well under 100€) not sure if it still available. Great picture, never had a problem with it, only complaint is that it says it is wi-fi, but you can´t just plug any usb wi-fi stick in it, it has to be a Samsung one which as i recall was pretty pricey. But to be honest, unless your planning on watching a lot of YouTube videos on your new TV it really is more of a gimmick. I plug a hard line into it occasionally just to download any updates.

I´ve just read a couple of reviews on the players you mentioned (I´m surprised at myself because this stuff really doesn´t interest me greatly!) and yeah, they both look excellent. The LG perhaps not quite as aesthetically pleasing, but in terms of functionality! I´m still going to recommend a Samsung Blu Ray as an entry level player with good write ups, what´s more I´ve noticed you can now buy the dongle (not Samsung but works) for about half the price :)

You did however mention the Humax Freesat, so I looked at that on amazon. I´m a standard Digital Plus user at the moment which offers about 20 HD channels, most in Dual but I don´t receive BBC (except World) or ITV. I live in a villa (we don´t have communal dishes) Do you happen to have any idea what sort of size dish size I would need to pick up those signals?

I appreciate your thoughts Jack, hope you sorted out your power cable issue.

(Oh, whilst on amazon I noted Star Wars episodes 1-6 are available for pre-order on Blu Ray, 67 quid, 9 discs, release 11th September, has to be done doesn´t it?" lol
