After 'Googling' to find information about the various fees involved when initializing a court case in Spain I found the following information:-

Has anyone NOT had to pay their Spanish Lawyers fees up front when taking a case to a Spanish court?

The lawyer and procurator cannot demand their fees in full at the outset.
I don't approve of the use of lawyers, but, an up-front fee for a 'new ' client would seem sensible but not, as above the FULL FEE.
In any case, (in fact in any case ! ) I don’t think a lawyer ever knows how much they will charge ‘in the end.‘ As much as they can get away is what I have found.

He says its his normal terms of business and he didnt expect us to pay everything at the beginning, we recieved clear statements showing charges and money used throughout the process.

Thank you.
You have got a very good lawyer there and might now be inundated with requests for their contact details. :o)
