Hello Kimikim
Welcome to EYE ON SPAIN. I am not an expert on receiving benefits abroad but there are many people who can advise you on the forum or at least point you in the right direction. I hope you find the info you are looking for :)
Once again, welcome

As far as I am aware the date 2015 was announced in 2010, since then I believe they have only laid one stone... so I doubt very much it will be open for 2015 or ever... don't count on it.

And to have any chance of a job there in the unlikely event of anything actually getting started, you would need to speak Spanish.
They have said that work will start on July 15th or some such precise date - but they have said that many times before. If you are even half serious about uprooting your family and using Spanish schools, then you need to be learning the language very seriously indeed.

Unless either you or your Husband has fluent Spanish base your move to Spain on the premise of not being able to get a job, that is the reality.
I assume with your list of benefits neither of you work currently anyway.

Sounds a bit like your getting all the benefits going in the UK with 4 kids and all, your husband is your carer so he gets paid to do that as well, you had better do some serious checking up on all the new UK laws regarding benefits, you just might find they wont be swapped over to Spain like they used to be. I doubt that Spain would pay for someone to long term rent a house like the UK does.

Speak to DWP, the rules have changed-I don't think you will receive all your benefits, including child allowance out here.
Don't rely on getting work, most Spanish can't find it.
It will be hard for you to satisfy all the conditions of registering on the foreigners register. look up the threads on this.Rules have changed.
Your healthcare will be a major factor. Are you relying on free healthcare from being on incapacity benefits?-will youhave to go back periodically to be assessed, following new rules?.If benefits are stopped there will be no free health care, and private healthcare does not usually accept existing conditions.
Dental care is private in Spain. There is no NHS, even for childen
Have you considered how much even state schools will cost regarding equipment and books etc. Will bringing your children here disrupt their education.what about learning spanish?
You need to prove you can look after yourself financially, and have a large amount in savings as back up.
I know the idea of moving to Spain is attractive, and all this info seems pessimistic, but moving to Spain is a huge thing and you will need to do alot of research, because it could mean a lot of heartache if it doesn'twork out.

THERE IS FREE STATE DENTISTRY IN SPAIN PLEASE GET YOU FACTS RIGHT BEFORE GIVING ADVICE!
If you do not believe me check out this link: http://citaseguridadsocial.com/cita-dentista-seguridad-social/
This is just another example of bad advice being given here by members who wish to help but only confuse the sititation more.
MOST EU NATIONALS WILL GET A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS FREE HEALTH CARE HERE IN SPAIN DEPENDENT ON THEIR UK CONTRIBUTIONS EVEN UNEMPLOYED GET THIS TWO YEARS.
I really do not wish to discuss this with any of you who seem to know better, so please do not try and draw me into your interpretation of how things work here. I deal in facts not fiction.

Enitlement to spanish healthcare for EU nationals is not on that website. I suggest you go to your Social security office in your provicial capital and they will explain all (in Spanish).
If you are not fluent in Spanish this may help: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/international/moving-to-another-country/moving-to-another-eea-country/
Best of luck - do not believe much of what the experts here tell you, do some research it is easy for anyone with a modicum of itelligence.
It amazes me what you read on this foum from some of the crazy people that would have us believe they know what they are talking about. Some even fabricate complete backgrounds to give their garage more credence.

I think a certain person on here should get a life and do something constructive with it.
They seem very angry with the world, but more angry with people who post on here.
They only post on here because they are trying to help others. Some people use the answers given on here as a guide
Unfortunately we cannot all be know it alls, and sometimes the wrong information is given.

So when my dental receptionist says there is only private dental care in Spain, she is wrong?I specifically asked her this question, expecting that she would say that children of school age would receive free treatment, but this, apparently, is not the case. However check ups are free to all registered with my dentist;don't know whether it appplies to all dentists in Spain.
How many people on this forum think it is a good idea for this family to move to Spain, having read her initial post?

Given the dire economic climate in Spain (which has been well publicized on the news / internet etc), it never ceases to amaze me that people who are not of retirement age or those who rely on benefits in UK are considering moving to Spain on a permanent basis.

Tiny bit sweeping, Wend!!! In the case of the person who started this thread, I'd agree there's a lot more that needs checking out in terms of their benefits before making a big move like this. But not all of us below retirement age are on benefits, and there are many other ways of being self-supporting for those of us not so unfortunate as the OP.
