@elaineG. You seem to have the answers, so can I ask, please? I spend 3 months a year in each of UK, Spain & France. The remaining 3 months are randomly distributed with friends in the USA, Australia & ad hoc breaks wherever.
If I obey the law and tell anyone, for eg (motor vehicle insurance company, that I only spend 3 months a year in their country....then none will insure me. If I obey the law, I ought to inform all 3 countries....that I am tax resident in all three. This would of course be subject to change if I whimsically decide to spend 4 or 6 months in Malta...which I am tempted to do.
The point I am trying to make is that sometimes the laws don't take into account modern circumstances. I am very happy to pay my way. But WTF on the basis of my spending a few months a year in Spain they feel entitled to loot my worldwide assets.....well, I don't know.
So, can you tell me what your advice is? ** EDITED - inciting a member **
What would you recommend?
