Applying for Residency
I am moving to Spain in the near future and will obviously need answers to questions that expats are probably best palced to answer. I intend to apply for residency and I have been given the following information.
You need to apply in the police station a certificate of residency for which you need to have a private insurance for obtaining it such bupa (sanitas is the equivalent or any other. This will cost you around 50 pounds a month.
My question is "Do I need to have medical insurance to apply to be a resident in Spain?

Hi Nigel
Thanks for this as most of the litrature or advice I had been given ( Mainly from estate agents suggested that medical insurance was not an essential prerequisite for attaining residency. Also the 16% budget I had been advised to put asisde for expenses has risen to 21% to date.
Thanks for your hep
Kind regards
Peter
