It is as simple as go to a Vodafone shop and ask for a USB Modem , my modem is , HUAWEI model E220, and I am been using it for about three months. The cost is €39+IVA that is all and you can surf as much as you want. If you have a Vodafone mobile and has good reception at your residence you should be OK with the USB it has a different SIM card, it has nothing to do with your mobile phone. I need my laptop for work and I take my modem everywhere and I have not had a problem yet. I hope this help you.

Thanks for the information Esteruca. I have been looking at this in the UK but they appear to charge monthly. Is the cost you quote monthly or a one off payment? Surely if you are linking to the internet, picking up/sending e-mails etc you would have to pay monthly?

The usb dongles are now being offered PAYG on the 3 network. It costs £10 for a 1GB data limit and is valid for 30 days from top up. Unfortunately this is in the UK and the cost is about £4 per MB when roaming!!! Does anyone know of any PAYG in espagne yet?

Hi Mark
I have had a vodaphone USB on PAYG since last July. I pay 60e which is the most you can top up by and that lasts three months. I have never managed to use the limit they set you in the 60e package. I can definitley reccomend this one, although i know Orange in Spain now do similar packages. The USB cost me 119e but i think you can get them at half this price now for the PAYG ones.

I have recently started using a vodaphone usb modem and it is a set monthly fee for unlimited usage and an 18 months minimum contract. You can get a variety of packages, ours includes all calls to Spanish landlines - as we don't have a landline at the villa (and being rented there's no point us having one put in) we thought this would work best for us.
It works well for me on 4/5th's reception strength - I never get full signal here and we do lose connection sometimes, but generally it's fine. I'm always on the internet so unlimited usage was a must. We sorted it at the Vodaphone shop and called back the following day to pick the bits up once the contract had been through the approval process, we were not previous vodaphone customers otherwise I think we would have been able to take it with us on the first visit.

Hi Also use the vodaphone modem and having recently moved from Fuengirola to Estepona find the reception now much increased and we actually get 3.6 mb EVERY time we log on before was lucky to get it ever.
Very happy with paying the 39€ monthly for unlimited access and the modem was free - had a package whereby the first twom months were also free ! so look out for special offers.
Easy to get, easy to set up and easy to use!!

I am happy to stick with Vodafone PAYG if that is all that is available, I don't want a contract as I can't justify te expense. Has anyone had experience of PAYG with any other operator?
Thanks
Mark
