Hi David & Linda
I am definately not the best person in the world to give directions (!) but if you have a map of the area look for Cabo at the beginning of La Manga strip. You can either take the motorway towards Cartegena & follow the La Manga signs or take the back road along the coast through Los Urrutias & Los Nietos etc. It's signposted very well.

Hi David and Linda,
We went to Cabo de Palos with our agent when we were looking for property. It is a pretty place. We bought in San Javier. I was hoping to find it again in August when we go for our next visit. We will be travelling from San Javier so if you are not going out before then, will let you know when we come back. I think it should be easy to find on either road (I usually like to stay on the small road and only go on the motorway if I have to.) as long as I keep the sea on my left then I usually find my way about LOL.

Hi Gina
Well we are on our last day here in Los Alcazares, but had a good 9 days or so of sun, sun, sun... also sorted out our NIEºs and closed our Solbank account - too many charges !
Once we are back we will provide a good overview of the restaurants here in LA.
Back to rainy Wales tomorrow !!

Hi for indian food i can definately recommend 'Sizzling Punjab' in Los Alcazares Industrial Estate, next to Polaris World Garden Centre. Probably the best Indian restaurant in the area. Their food and service is excellent. They also offer a takeaway and home delivery service.
I found their prices really reasonable. They have currently got an offer of a 4 course dinner for only 12.90€. Worth every penny. Their phone number is 968575759

Completely agree with you ozzmosis36uk regarding The Village
I usually have to wait until I return to the UK before I have an Indian curry as have been very disappointed with the ones to date here. But we gave this new one a try and was very impressed. Food was excellent and loved the funky huge brightly coloured chairs. Also liked the fact there is a window into the kitchen so you can see the food being prepared. We went for a very reasonable MDD at E9.90. The onion bhajis were particularly good, freshly made and crispy on the outside. The waiter asked how hot we wanted the curry which is a nice touch as my OH likes them a bit spicy however I dont. The other good thing is they have a kids menu which is ueful when you have a 7 year old whos not quite ready for a vindaloo yet !!
Tel 968 580 955 or 697 838 316
Only hope they can ride out this recession as there are many restaurants going out of business. Simon and Davids and Restaurant Chino at CC Hispania in San Javier are the latest - and they were really good - boo hoo !!

Just arriving on Sunday for the week with friends and I am searching for the name of the Spanish drink- a tiny narrow glass of coffee, brandy and cinamon and I think condensed milk? Anyone remember it?
Thanks

I have read all the posts re. good eating places around the Mar Menor but not one person has made any mention of smoking conditions.
"Here we go again", I hear you all say but I long for the spring and summer to arrive to enable my wife and I to eat out in comfort without the stinking smell of cigarettes and cigars permeating the air and our food!!
The law is very loosely interpreted here, as you probably all know.
I pray for the day that more stringent laws are introduced. Mind you, the Spanish are well-known for not "toeing the line", so I may have a long wait.
I don´t envy much about the poor ol´ UK at the moment but I do admire their policy rearding smoking.

For an excellent restaurant (Michelin listed), with a bit of style and good old fashioned service try Le Venezuela restaurant by the marina at Lo Pagan, San Pedro del Pinatar.
Alternatively for good food (and what looked liked gigantic steaks), a lovely position right on the sea front, and attentive friendly service try the Terra Mare on the front just south of Los Narejos - as you head into town from the Commercial Centre and El Patio restaurant turn left at the next roundabout and park somewhere near the sea.

Lifeline - the (most excellent!) drink you refer to is called a belmonte - pronounced 'bel-mon-tay'.

Had a nice Indian Meal at a sensible price at the Village Indian Restaurant at the Murcia End of the Balsicas Industrial estate. We went at about 7.30 and were told there was a special offer between 6 and 8 of a choice of starter, main dish and rice or Nan for 9.95e which for a spanish Indian (if that makes sense) is good value.
I expected the portions to be small or at least smaller than the normal menu items but they were exactly the same size. We all enjoyed what we had, (Korma for kids, a Jalfrezi and a Rogan Gosh sorry if spellllling wrong)
The staff were excellent and the way they had decorated and furnished was great with authentic furniture items.
Good Surroundings, Good food, sensible price = Good value for money.
