Hi Arky

Is the Hidustani in the main square? And where exactly is the tropical?

There is an Indian across the road by the car park opposite the square with round windows, not sure of the name of that one, so maybe that's the one that's closed down?

Thanks Arky,

Ah Yes, I know where the the Tropical is now

Have you seen the post from Patman. (Cheers Patman, I've put it in my favourites) He has put a link on which covers all restaurants around there, it's brilliant. See Feb 17th post.

Roll on August

We tried Restaurante Angela last night, which is the opposite end to Mercadona in the plaza at Los Alcazares.  Plenty of shaded outside seating as well as a/c inside.

Very impressed and going back Friday night.  5 of us went, complimentary bread and pate to start, 2 had lasagne which were huge, and apparently 'one of best they'd ever had', 2 had spag bol, and I had merluza (local fish), which came with plenty of fresh vegetables, which I find is quite unusual in Spain.  With a bottle of house wine, 4 large beers and two large bottles of water, bill came to 84 euros which I thought was very good value.  We then had complimentary Lemoncelli.

Staff were very friendly, with limited English, and us with limited Spanish, we all seemed to understand each other.  It's definitely a restaurant we will use every time we visit.

We went once Arky about 2 years ago, but wasn't too impressed, the steak was very tough, however saying that it might have been a one off and maybe the chef had a night off . Think we will give it another whirl when we come over next. Thanks

We used to go to El Patio but got put off a couple of years ago when the steak I ordered medium was still 'Moo-ing' . Also thought the chips were really greasy - but saying that have heard good reports since so will give it another go.

Is anyone else not getting emails about replies to this thread - or is it just me??

We are out in Los Alcazares in 3 weeks time to celebrate our birthdays, a big one, not 40 or 60 somewhere in the middle!

Please could someone recommend a 'special' restaurant for the night.

We were in Los Alcazares in September and ate for the fist time at at El Señorío I think it was called, just past airport, which was excellent, not cheap but great for a special occasion.

We have stayed in Los Alcazares a number of times and have eaten at El Patio (mixed results) Angela's, etc. but looking for somewhere special.

We have not eaten L'encarnation which seems to have loads of great reviews.

Any recommendations please

thanks

Kerry

only 5 years to retirement in Los Alcazares!!

Hi Kerry

Haven't tried L'encarnation to eat, but know the one you mean. A lot of good reviews on the forum. When we were over in August we tried Rosalinds roof garden terrace, just opposite the hotel 525, which was really good. It was very hot so it was nice to sit outside to eat. Food great, service great. They do a set meal of 2 courses for 14.95 or 3 course for 17'95. Couldn't fault it at all.  Maybe good idea to book, as it was very busy in the summer.

The Hotel Encarnacion is highly recommended for that special occassion, not cheap but chefs presentation and the service are both superb, make sure you have a good look around the courtyard and soak in the atmosphere in the restaurant very olde worlde Spanish, well it is over 100 years old. Share the dessert.

Great fun in the summer with live music outside, watch out for Spanish Saga guests showing you the way to dance

Great location as it is a pleasant walk along the promenade if you park near the yacht club or you can walk along the front depending where you are staying.

................................................................................................................

Another addition to the area is La Vide de Ojeda a  typically Spanish Tapas bar and restaurant with great Spanish dishes and Maria who runs it and speaks good English will happily explain the menu which is made for sharing.  House wine at 7 euros. well worth a visit.

The restaurant is to be found on the road into town near to the Wok Buffet, Barclays bank, LA Golf and the latest Chinese bazaar and opposite the Tourist office

Another typically Spanish restaurant that is excellent and not quite as expensive as La Encarnacion is La Casa del Reloj in San Pedro del Pinatar. Beautiful setting, excellent food and presentation. Telephone 968 18 24 06 www.restaurantelacasadelreloj.com

Hi All

many thanks for the replies

One question, will most of the restaurants be open at the end of November.

We have tried most of the restaurants on the 'strip' all of which we have enjoyed, just looking for something special and different.

Dont mind travelling 15/20 mins as we have a car for the week.

Staying in the old part of Los Alcazares near to the beach

 Hi

How about trying 'Viva' in Los Nietos.  Its  right on the edge of the Mar Menor at the railway station end of Los Nietos.  It was definitely open last week and I think all year round. Its very good and very nice staff, with fantastic views of the sea.
