New year´s eve in Spain
The Comments |
Does anyone know if Spanish people have celebrations outside at midnight. This is our first New Year here. It would be great to find a really Spanish event. As we have children we prefer not to be in the English bars with them. We know that there is a tradition of eating 12 grapes as the bells ring.

Lots of fireworks, and even if you've just gone in for a drink you will be given 12 grapes to gulp down (last year the grapes we were given were almost fermenting)! as the clock strkes midnight. In Peniscola the church at the top of the old town was dishing out free wine and beer but when we got there it had all gone!!! A lot of people had taken their own and sat on the walls to watch the fireworks but many of the restaurants and bars were closed. This year we have booked into a restaurant overhanging the sea and are really looking forward to it.
