Any tips/recommendations for travelling on train from Barcelona to Alicante
The Comments |
Hi everyone
We are hoping to travel to Alicante by train this summer. So our plan is to catch the eurostar to Paris, then the overnight train from Paris to Barcelona. We plan to stay in Barcelona for a couple of nights before travelling down to Alicante also by train. Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stop off along this route?
Thanks in advance, Louise

Make sure you book the Barcelona-Alicante train in advance it can get busy and have no seats left if you don't, also allow plenty of time at the station as you have to go through airport style security before being allowed on the platform.
We stay at the Hotel Nouvel. Rooms are basic but the location is excellent and the foyer is like something out of a Poirot story! Don't bother with the breakfast it's not brill and there are plenty of places around to get breakfast.

Thanks Poppyseed, the hotel looks lovely especially as we are big Poirot fans!
If anyone has any more recommendations on places to stay on the coastline between Barcelona and Alicante, please let me know!
Many thanks, Louise

Hi Louise
Are you planning to go Gran Clase on the trenhotel between Paris and Barcelona? We have done this and it is a great deal: we assumed that the evening meal that was included would be from a fixed price menu, however we could choose whatever we wanted! Breakfast was a continental breakfast, which you could have in the restaurant or take to your cabin. Please email me if you want any more details.
We have stayed at Tarragona, which is a fascinating city especially if you like history, and also at Salou, though I have to say that I would recommend Cambrils rather than Salou. We also love Valencia, which is another stop en-route.
