After reading Gerald's blog 'The Phony Move' I have decided to share with you how I get things done on a daily basis and when have a big project, like moving to Spain on a monthly basis.
I start everyday by writing a list of things to do, I call it my daily B.P. (battle plan), you can call it, my to do list or what ever you like, it is your list.
There are two ways you can lay it out first, you can list and number the items with the most urgent being number 1 or if like me your brain can't order without it being on paper you can just write them in list form.
Why is this so helpful ?
Because it gets it out of your head, which means you have space to get the jobs done, rather than just thinking about all you have to do. You can forget all the jobs and just concentrate on one thing at a time.
I like to put things that have to happen everyday, like taking the kids to school, because I do it anyway, but when I cross it off my list, it feels great, I am achieving what I set out for the day !
When you have a big project, you may want to do a longer term BP (battle plan) this of course will change as you remember things and other things may turn out not to need doing so you can just cross them out.
Transfer the most important things on to your daily BP.
You can do a project BP, a weekly or monthly BP whatever suits you best.
I find that it makes life less overwhelming and manageable.
I have been doing BP's everyday for about 16 years, it really helps me stay focused without stressing and get the job done !
Give it a try, does it seem easier ? Also things can roll over to other days.
For example I agreed to teach a Spanish bar owner how to make Chilli con carne, but she was unable to do it on the day we had arranged, so that rolled over to another day.
Things happen, be flexible !!
Give yourself head space and give it a go !
