A tongue in cheek account of living with the Presidente, OR how to survive and extended 'family' of 183.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

That's what El Presidente needs !.................At this very minute El Presidente is in the garage clad in his shorts and WELLIES paddling about in the flood water !!

YES.................it's happened AGAIN..................the rain in Spain has NOT fallen on the plain and most of it is now in our garage!!

We need a big sucker to suck it out ( I'm beginning to wonder just who is the 'sucker here' ).

Well that's tomorrow sorted then! First thing in the morning......get on to the Town Hall, Builder and Administrator AGAIN !

Sun, food, coffee, council tax and SCRATCHES..............
Thursday, March 26, 2009

El Presidente and Moi are home after a good flight with Ryanair which arrived 20 minutes early to lovely sunshine.............we left Luton in strong winds and rain!!

There has been some discussion on the forum about the cost of living in Spain.....................compare this!!

Chinese meal for 5 including 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine ( no pudding )..........  96 pounds.

Veg pasta bake and chips and 2 sausages and chips............14 pounds

1 coffee, 1 tea and one slice of cardboard coffee cake......12 pounds 50 pence

Council tax...cheapest band.....965 pounds...................

Menu del dia ( and wine ) 7€ tops..................Community Fees 330€ per year...............coffee ( good coffee )...1€.....................

I know where I would rather be....................AND:...........THE SUN

Now it's back to the grindstone for El Presidente, what with the AGM stuff to sort out and get posted so that everyone can have the chance to vote on thier Community, actually it's all about done and should be posted out early next week.

So far, we have only had 2 persons knock on the door and the phone has only rung once ( perhaps we slipped home un noticed? )...........................HOWEVER, El Presidente and Moi would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the kind and thoughtful person who has run a key ( or something ) down the side of our car while we have been away. The car was in the secure garage and only about 20 other owners have keys to the garages and I really don't want to think who may have done this cowardly, thoughtless but probably expensive thing.

Still, onward and upward ( as the actress said to the Bishop ) tomorrow is another day, so lets see what it will bring for El Presidente and Moi !!

Tieing up loose ends...............
Tuesday, March 3, 2009

El Presidente and Moi are off to the UK in a couple of hours to tie up all the loose ends.

We will be there for 3 weeks so that we can spend some time with the kids and friends too. Every time we have been over since August it has been a rush and most of the time spent with El Presidente's parent ( not that I regret it ) but it will be nice to spend more time with the kids and see friends we have not seen for a year.

We will have to spend sometime sorting out the house and stuff and that will be sad but it must be done.

I'm hoping the 'sprayer' does not strike again while we are away........and if he/she does...........I hope it's while my friend Fibby is in situ 'cos I KNOW I can trust her to sort it !!

Keep well, take care, see you soon. x

The 'Sprayer' strikes AGAIN.................
Sunday, March 1, 2009

The idiot with the spray can has been at it again!

This time it was on the wall surrounding the whole property which is margionally better than last time when it was all over the Cotogran surface of the actual building and cost the Community 700€ to have removed.

Funnily enough, this boundry wall is INSIDE locked gates, so who could it be? Only owners and tenants have keys to the gates which are kept locked.

Also, the words, including El Presidente's Christian name, were in Spanish.

I would like to assure the 'sprayer' that El Presidente's parents ( now both deceased ) were married at the time of his conception!!

We have two Spanish tenants and two Spanish owners here at present but El Presidente would not let me knock on their doors to try and find the culprit...............thought their fingers might be covered in gold spray paint! Probably just as well considering the way I was ( and am ) feeling. And of course, the 'sprayer' may not be Spanish, but I had to look up the second word in the dictionary to make sure of it's meaning, it's certainly not the Spanish one I would have used in that context.

Anyway, I had to content myself with mixing white paint with yellow food colouring  and painting over the words after I photographed them in case we need them for future reference.

Now, I can ( and do ) call El Presidente ALL sorts of names..................BUT.............no one else is going to !!

El Presidente is a nice, calm, honest, genuine person......................Mrs. El Presidente has none of these attributes so BEWARE the 'sprayer'.
