Living with the Presidente.

The builder opposite has just KNOCKED DOWN the wall he re-built !!

Only that bit but it's a start........................

Apparently the Town Hall have now decided that the 'wall' re-erected by the builder opposite ( and the 'other' bit of the wall ) is a DANGER.................................this 'wall' now means that when the road floods and does NOT go into our garages ( because of the wall WE built ) the water will be higher in the road and cause DAMAGE both to us and to other properties.

Rosa, the Chief Engineer, has telephoned the Mayor of Orihuels ( from whom the edict to re-build came ) and has a meeting with her AND the matter is to be raised in the council meeting.

Sooooooooo it seems that Rosa AND the opposition party are BOTH raising this issue.......................

WE WILL SEE................................................

El Presidente went to the Town Hall this morning at 10am ( our time ) and he has not yet reappeared.....................don't know whether that's good or bad!!

We've been waiting with bated breath for the first spot of rain but we now have glorious sunshine....is that sod's law??

Things surprisingly quiet over here although our semi-resident pin-up-person, Miss La Mirada has arrived so past evidence says that things will 'liven' up soon!!

Well, as expected, El Presidente has heard nada ( NOTHING ) from our builders.

OK, El Presidente has to return to the Town Hall on Wednesday to see if Rosa who is Chief Engineer, has any more information regarding our flooding.

BUT...............what if it p***** down before then?

SOOOOOOOOO.......El Presidente has had a wall built across the top of the exit ramp....NB.....this does NOT affect the emergency vehicle's access.

ALSO El Presidente and Moi spent friday with the opposition councillor ( also called Rosa ) and her dynamic right hand person. What they have come up with is.......if there is no solution to our flooding problem from tjhe Town Hall on Wednesday............a press conference will be set up in Orihuela which will include TV and Newspapers ( Spanish ) and questions will be asked in the council meetings too. El Presidente has to read all our complaints out to them in Spanish ( thank goodness for the Council's free Spanish lessons ! )

El Presidente has phoned our builder who still owns the garage spaces cos they have not been 'handed over' and he blew a fuse!

He says the re building of the 'wall' cannot happen........it's not happened yet cos they're all at lunch......................and he is GOING TO SORT IT OUT !!!

Well woopee dee !!......I wish someone would..............................come to Spain to retire and enjoy life SOMEONE ( no guesses who ) said !!!!

El Presidente and Moi are VERY confused.

After the recent rain which flooded our garage area ( yet AGAIN ) and necessitated the turning off of the lifts, we were told by the Town Hall that the builder ( who had exasperated the flooding problem by building a wall directly in the path of the water flow ) had to knock down the remaining amount of wall to ensure the flow DID NOT go into our garages.

This morning ( in fact, RIGHT NOW ) there are FOUR men from the builders BRICKING UP THE SPACE ALTOGETHER !!!!!!

They tell us that the work is on the orders of the TOWN HALL.

El Presidente is now at the Town Hall having first informed the Administrator of what's happening and I am typing with steam coming out of my ears and a totally addled brain..............................................................................................

EDITED TO ADD..................El Presidente is back from Town Hall.................apparently the instruction to re build the wall came from the 'promoter' ( NO we don't know who it is ) and representation has been made to the Mayor regarding the wall ( by the 'promoter' ) and the wall has to be re built and the TOWN Hall can do NOTHING. Rosa, chief engineer at the Town hall ) is fuming but cannot countermand this.

The pathway for the drain which will stop the problem ( El Presidente has a copy ) has been put forward for approaval but work will not begin until the end of the summer.

It seems the only way we can stop the flooding temporarily is to build our own wall on top of the ramp which will curtail access to the perimeter road and El Presidente has not wanted to do that. BUT that seems to be the only option. Rosa has said we do not need a license for that and if anyone raises objection refer them to her at the Town Hall.

The very best way NOT to make friends is to be El Presidente or his wife!!!!

Yes, it's that time of year again when the convocation for the AGM has been sent out to all owners. Always there seems to be some emotive subject which has to be addressed because the issue has been brought to El Presidente by an owner or there is someone who is on the debtor's list who thinks they should NOT be on the debtor's list!

You all will remember that my blog is NOT a Urbanisation newsletter and I do try and look on the lighter side of 'life with El Presidente' but right now it's a little hard 'cos so much seems to be taken personally and although I can understand this and in most respects, sympathise ( as does El Presidente ) it is a bit hard to live with.

El Presidente is only doing the job which the Community of Owners elected him to do.

Strange things happening here AGAIN...............................first one of our fire extinguishers was found ( empty ) at a local commercial centre and now the cork notice board has gone missing!!

A while ago El Presidente organised a work party to paint the entrance foyers of the 2 blocks and to put up ( screwed to the wall ) a cork notice board so the residents could pin up notices. It was stated by a nice laminated notice that the board was not for business use. All the pins dissappeared within 2 days but several informative notices were pinned up. During the time El Presidente and Moi were in UK, apparently someone removed the laminated notice and put a business card on the notice boards and some person, who obviously took exception to this BUSINESS card, removed it, in fact tore it up. Well the owner of this BUSINESS card was not too pleased about this and stuck the BUSINESS card back together ( ? ) and put up a notice to say.......don't remove my BUSINESS card again and if you have a problem with it come up and see me ( was that Mae West ?.....don't think she's in residence? )

El Presidente moved those notices and BUSINESS and cards and we waited for the enevitable door bell announcing an irate owner ( because the BUSINESS card had been rewmoved ).

It didn't happen.

BUT...........................................

what did happen is that the cork notice board dissappered !!!.......................and it WAS screwed to the wall !!!!!!!!!

El Presidente is down in the garages with Pele and Cano who have come to pump out the lift shafts AGAIN. I think El Presidente lives in the garage.

The Town Hall said they were going to send a lorry to do this yesterday but it turned out the lorry only had a 20 foot hose and it would not reach the lift shaft.

Day before yesterday, the Town Hall ordered the builder opposite, who erected THE WALL which caused all the problemas, to remove it. When El Presidente asked when this was to be done, he was told tomorrow ( in English ) but that was yesterday!! Apparently they did not do it yesterday because they thought it might rain !!....................

Anyway, soon the lifts should be working again and Moi will not have to carry potatoes up two flights of stairs. My friend, who has an apartment on the top floor, has aching knees now!!

The one way traffic to our door has intensified since the debtor's letters were sent out ( the letter informs the owner of the debt and the fine they have incurred ). Suddenly...............no one seems to have knowledge of the inception of this fine although it has been in place( as voted for at AGM ) for several years. Moi's answer to this is to say...............if you had paid your fees on time you would not have this problem....................and you wouldn't be knocking on my door ( or sending me e-mails ) complaining !!!!.................That's why I am NOT El Presidente !!!

Anyway.........the sun is shining now and it makes the rain fiasco bearable....................just off to rescue El Presidente ( and his wellies ) for a spot of lunch on our SUNNY balcony before the Committee meeting this afternoon !!
