I've done it again.........will I never learn ???
I went to the pool this evening. I left it till six o'clock cos I though everyone would be off for thier tea. I was wrong. I am always amazed at the size of the young people nowadays ( it's cos I'm getting old ! ) they don't half look BIG and MENACING. I'm sure the majority are very nice and thoughtful ( less ) but they do look intimidating !!
The pool was packed. You would have thought I would have walked away? You'd be wrong !!.
Most of the pool water seemed to be on the pool side, so I paddled round to the showers ( which we had to have repaired after they had been vandalised ), dumped my towel and had a soaking from the shower and plodded back to the other end of the pool intending to enter it by the Roman steps.
No chance.
Four adults and two kids were sitting on the top of the steps with NO intention of moving. Excuse me I said, can I get in the pool? No one moved. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Sooooooo I toddled off and got in via those horrible metal stairs that always make me feel suspended above Niagra Falls.
Still, I'm in the water, which was colder than I expected, but nice.
Lets swim then. NO. Two lilos and a big black ring, several 'spaghetti' things and two balls ( ! ). So I wiggle my way through the melee and gaze hopefully at the pool sign which identifies what you can't do in the pool.......................sort of hoping for a thought transferance thingy. A lady on a lilo looks at the sign from the depths of the pool and says to her friend ( in a rubber ring )................Look it says NO BALLS........then she threw the ball to her friend !! Her friend says...............Hey, it says no lilos and no inflatables. This is NOT a lilo she says, this is a bed and yours is a ring not an inflatable!!
And the BALL..........................well it's just a load of ..............B%%ls..............................
So I said to EL Presidente.............................should we get bigger signs? or how can we get these people to understand that, apart from the fact that the pool is not big enough for lilos etc..................safety has to be of paramount importance..................and the young lad hurtling from pool side onto his floating lilo is going to come a cropper sometime soon !!!
El Presidente did not reply..........................there is no answer really, is there ?....................................................................................
........................I may have to give my cooks torch ( for burning the sugar on creme brulee ) an outing..........................bit dangerous I know but will make a good POP !!! ( we won't tell El Presidente tho )
