Hi Liz,
I have one piece of advice!
Go see Hacienda.....that's it!
You will either be totally won over by the place (as we were) or it'll not be for you.
It's just fantastic!
Yes there's still lots to do, yes there is a road being built nearby; but the resort is brilliant to visit and when you are there it's peaceful and you get to really relax.
If you're in it for the long term; Hacienda has got to be a good bet!

Hi Jeff
Thank you once again for your comments. Hacienda looks great and as you say it is something we are going to have to go over and have a look at and ponder.
Kind regards
Liz and Tony

Liz & Tony,
As Jeff said you really need to visit to appreciate the HR. I am sure you wont be disappointed it really is beautiful, and very peaceful. But nothing is more than a short drive away, be it beaches or the great city of Murcia. I hope you like it.
Ken.
P.S and the neighbours are great

Hi Ken
Thank you very much. I must say the neighbours do seem very nice already. Please would you just let me know how much each month it costs to keep your appartment (I don't mean your mortgage) just bills, rates etc just so that we have an idea. We are thinking along the lines of getting an appartment in Hacienda as we are sure that Polaris may say they will refund us some of our money but not actually sure they will. Hacienda seems lovely and quiet and as you say there will be lots to do if we venture out. We had a bad expeirence in September as we just kept getting lost in the car even though we had a TomTom but we were more than happy with the supermarket and I am sure the one on Hacienda will have everything we require.
Is the golf course on Hacienda good and do many people play on i?
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards
Liz

Thank you soo much that is very kind of you. It is funny but on the grapevine I had heard someone say something like "what with what is happening at Hacienda" to which I didn't really take any notice but I can honestly say I know there are nowwhere near as many appartments so will be fewer people, the people I have talked to have been really nice and I haven't taken any of the comments negatively, they have all been helpful. I suppose for us, we know the facilities are not up and running so will have not as high expectations. The agent said he will reserve one for us and then I think my husband will be going on his own to pick one, there are a few different types I suppose to choose from.

Hi Liz & Tony,
I only completed in August so I cannot really give you an accurate costs forcast per month yet. But at the moment I am budgeting 250 euros per month on top of my mortgage, which is for:
120 - Community Fees.
100 - Utilities.
30 - Buildings & Contents insurance.
My bank insists I have compulsary mortgage insurance, which I pay annually for approx 300 euros, but it can also be paid 30 per month. I know there are some other annual taxes, but like I said I don't know what they are yet. I have heard various things, perhaps someone else who has had to pay such taxes can give a definitive answer?
Payment for everything in Spain by direct debit seems to be a bit ad hoc to say the least. Its not as simple as in UK with monthly payments. You wont appear to be paying anything for ages and them you will get hit for 3 or 4 months of charges in one go! I try to keep a balance of at least 1000 euros in my Spanish account to absorb any surprises.
I think that is everything? I'm sure the others will chip in if I have missed anything.
Ken.

Hi Kenny
I think and hope your utility estimate of 100 euros a month is way too high. We have only been out about 5 times this year but the charges are a lot less than 100 euros a month.
After completion they are a higher due to connection charges. One of the utility companies charges the connection charges over 3 months ( I think it was approx 70 euros per month ), which I didn't realise and thought our costs were too high initially. since then they have reduced dramatically.
Also noticed some debate on the golf courses. As a keen golfer who has played many different course I can confirm that the course is very good with an excellent layout. The greens and fairways are coming on very well but the rough needs some tlc - hopefully we may seem some grow over winter.
El Valle is also very good but I think HR provides the best challenge - certainly for better golfers.
cheers
Steve

I would back up your comments on the golf course 'Muller'. I think that it's a real challenging course which you really have to think your way around. El Valle is visually impressive but not, I would suggest, as much of a challenge as HR.
Paul.

Cheers Steve, I have not been charged any utilities yet so I too think (hope) that I have overestimated. This is for all 3 - gas, electric and water (once the get me off the builders supply) and I thought 30 euros a month sounded about right. But if its less that will be nice.
Regards,
Ken.

hi Tony & liz
may i be so bold as to suggest you go out and take a holiday on HR, rent an appartment an live there for a week and see how you feel after that.
we weent out for 3 weeks in the summer to a friends apartment (thanks jim & alison) and didnt really likr it ... we thought it was too far out the drive annoyed us to get to the beach or the town and would not concider buying there ....... WELLLLL that was for the first few days ... then you start to see the benifits, esp if you look at some other resorts the space around the apartments, the size of the pools, how friendly people are, the fact that (most) appartments are near a pool.
We ended up so impressed with the place that we just arrived home yesterday after completing on one in phase 3 (one of the 2 bathroom ones) and we are really delighted and cant wait to get back out ... although that may not be untill next year.
so defo go out stay there if you can ... its got oto be better than having any money in a bank at the moment

Hi Andrew
Thank you very much for your email, that was a really good insight to HR. I think most people are of the same oppinion. We are basically buying a place on another Polaris resort but have been missold the property and our Solicitor is not the best at communicating as says we may be able to cancel the contract so we are left with the problem that we may get our money back some time in the future or we can complete on a property on HR. I will let my husband see your comments as I think they really are helpful. I agree with you, the people seem extremely friendly and I really like the way there is a committee of people who take the time out of their live to make a good community for everyone.
Good luck with your new appartment, you never know, we may be neighbours.
Kind regards
Liz
(Ps please keep all the comments (good or bad) comming, they are really very much appreciated)
