Hiya
We are hoping to get a fancy iron gate to put at the bottom of the stairs leading to the roof.
We have looked through the rules and cant find anything saying its not allowed.
Can anyone tell us if it is ok or is there a rule we have missed saying we can't do it

San and Leigh

Hi, If you wanna do it,just go ahead and do it as it's your property. It's probably most important that you ask your immediate neighbors if they mind. I wouldn't even advertise it on here and draw people's attention to it. Let them find out by themselves and if it's a good idea, that's done in good taste,I am sure there will be nothing said. On the other hand, if it's an ugly rusty corregated iron gate, that looks awful, then I can assure you that Polaris World will find out immediately and you will be rightfully asked to remove it. Regards. Geoff.

Hi San And Lei

I would only say that replacement of the  gate at the bottom of the stairs leading to the  2 apartments may need  approval from your neighbour , but the gate leading to your roof terrace , if there is one  is your business.

We had wondered about this too, both for security and as a safety measure for families with small children. We were considering (in due course) a gate at the bottom of the stairs leading to the roof terrace and one at the top too- but we had thought of a wooden gate that matches the Polaris version.

In terms of security they probably has limited value as thieves can lift items over dividing walls if they really want to but it could delay or put them off. Didnt the original pictures/plans show a large gate at the bottom of the stairs up to both apartments?

We've a 3 year old son & will definitely be getting wooden gates at the top & bottom of the solarium stairs, mainly for safety.

cheers

Peter

Its just a thought ,but  whatever type of gate you all decide to install, paint it white to blend in with the building , it would be less likely to offend anyone even if it doesn't match other gates. I think if you have small children their safety comes first so if that means putting up a gate or two go for it.

No small children in the immediate family at the moment (unless any of my sons are keeping secrets!) but if we rent that could easily change. Quite like the idea of painting the gates white (when we get around to them) as its true they would just blend in then

Hi San & Leigh,

We've got a wooden gate the same as the one Polaris fit and when we go out in October I intend to fit it at the top of the solarium steps. Our youngest would get into all sorts of trouble if we let her get up there so I don't see how anyone could object to you taking safety precautions. It will be lockable aswell for security when the apartments empty.
