Hi all
Sorry for the shocking title. I have a biiiiiig phobia of cockroaches, whats the pest control situation like in the apartments. Do we use a company regularly. Has anybody seen any in any of the apartments? I am terrified. Wherever we go on hol I check under the bed, in the beds etc. Sorry to be wierd!

Hi Tan, We stayed at an apartment this year on La Torre, overlooking the lake. Everyday I had to spray the patio with insecticide as there was millions of insects on the roof; walls and every surface of the patio area. They where like a smaller type of mosquito. The first night we did not realise this and because we left the patio open in the evening, they got into the apartment and as a consequence the next morning we where covered in bites . Apart from that we have never had a problem with things crawling about inside. It did however put me off staying at La Torre and hopefully we should not need to again, or if we do I will make sure it is not a groundfloor apartment overlooking a lake!

Just like Carol says there are beetles outside but nothing major gets inside. We have just put one of those strips with a brush along the bottom of the door on the inside - it has stopped any dust and small beasties getting in. I think it was about 10 euros.

Hi all,
In most hot countries they usually spray the gardens everyday to control the pests so hopefully it will be included in the maintainence charge.

They hav esprayed the gardens once since I arrived 7 weeks ago and you have to shut all your doors and windows when they do it cos it stinks lol, but if it keeps lil creepies out who cares.

Sorry Tanrog to upset your phobia but I think the other contributors to this post spoke too soon. We are out here at the moment, the weather is warm and sunny but we have discovered three large roach like beetles in the apartment. They look a little like english cockroaches but much bigger with nasty looking claw like pincers at the front - wouldn´t like to pick one up alive.
They are all dead now and I haven´t seen one since yesterday but looking for infestations all the time. Don´t know how they got but I suspect through an open door or under the door. They seem to like the kitchen area for dropped crumbs etc.
Also, think I had a cricket (is that the game spelling) in the other night too. What a racket. Every time I got up it went quiet for 5 minutes then started again. Really loud in the echo´s of a concrete structure like our apartment.
By the way, we are in a top floor penthouse, so god knows how the ground floor properties cope with it.
Plenty of spray and bleach I think would cure it.
