Hi Carol
We are coming over on Friday 3rd , could you please tell us the width of the front door, as we thought we might bring one (or some if anybody wants one ) of these door thingies over.
Lets hope the weather improves!!!!!
Steve & Sandy.

Hi Carol,
As i said in my first post i made on this thread it was very reassuring that you were on this case. Could you adviseif it is cold or is it just wet, wondering what to pack clothes wise? Is it my thermals or is it my linens? Any advise would be gratefully appreciated.
Ali

The width of the door on the inside is 97 cm. I fitted one of those strips with brushes on the bottom earlier this week. If you were fitting something on the outside of the door, then the visible width of the door is a bit less than 97cm.
Hope this helps

Hi Chris & Alison
What is the front door actually made of? Is it wood or metal? can't remember.
Did you screw the strip to the door or glue it on?
I'm out there at the end of next week so another little job for me to do.

Snagit are offering to go in and fit these strips- for a fee, as yet undisclosed as it depends on take up. But if like us you planned to do it anyway, this is handy to know and removes the worry.

Hi all
Well the door strips are self adhesive and 2 bed & 3 bed doors are diff sizes will measure tomorrow and post sizes, weather wise it is very cool when overcast and same inthe evening but still some rays to be had in between. internet connection and phone signals are really hit and miss at the moment so its taking me ages to post and reply to messages as cuts off half way through and having to start again most of the time - a pain at mo but perservering !!

There is actually a door seal fitted on the bottom of the front door. Its not immediately obvious (we were there for 3 weeks and didn't know until one of our neighbours told us!!!) If you fully open the front door, you will see a small screw on the inside edge near the bottom. Turn this screw anti-clockwise 3 or 4 full turns, and it will screw out. This is a spring loaded button. When you now close the door, this button presses against the door frame, and for the last part of the door closing, a seal moves down from the bottom of the door onto the floor. you may need to adjust the screw to get the right movement, but it definately there... Not completely sure how effective it is - we only did it on our last day when it was sunny (the house could be flooded as we speak!!!!!!) But it did look like it would work.... Good luck!!!!!!

Mike and Dawn,
the inner body of the door is metal but the outer fascias aren't, they feel like some sort of polycarbonate - that's a tough word to spell at 8:20 in the morning !
Anyway, the strips I bought were adhesive and by the time I left on Tuesday they still hadn't fallen off ! Just to be over the top I fitted them on the inside and outside. I got ones with brushes cause I was thinking mainly about creepy crawlies & dust, but you can also buy them with rubber strips on.
Looking forward to trying that gadget at the bottom of the door now on our next trip !

Hi All
we were with Trevor from snaggit and he showed us the strip that you access by turning the screw. He did say that he will supply and fit the seal he recommends for 30 euros (not for free) This was last Tuesday

We were at Condado when there was the really bad rain on the 24th and water came under our door and crept up to near where the dining table would be. We reported it the next day and within a few hours we had three workman round who replaced the step outside the door and then thoughout the week workman kept popping round to do other adjustments to the door. Didn't have any further problems while we were out there - did rain again but don't think we it was a heavy, so will have to wait and see what happens next time...
We were really impressed with how quick Polaris fixed the problems we had (also had problems with the door lock and the cooker).

Alert from the Spanish Press
There is a fifty percent chance of a 'gota fria' cloudburst today which could bring flooding to the region.
The Spanish Met office says that there is a chance of dangerous cloudbursts in the Murcia and Valencia regions today. An orange alert is in place for Murcia which could see 100 litres of rain per square metre over just 12 hours.
They say the situation is similar to that seen in 1973 when the Segura river burst its banks. The experts say there is a 40-50% chance of a serious cloudburst in the area today and the alert for heavy rain could remain in place until Sunday.
During the storms, wind speed is forecast to increase to as much as 70 km/hour.

My maths may be a little rusty - but 100ltrs per square metre? - isn't that equivelent to 1cm of rainfall ?? May be exceptional for Murcia, but sounds like a normal summers day here in the UK!!!

Ptan, Help me with the maths!! Where am I going wrong?? - (I know v sad)
I thought that 1ltr = 100 centilitres = 100 cubic cm (1 centilitre = 1 cubic cm ie. 1cm x 1cm x 1cm)
I sq metre, equals 100cm x 100cm = 10,000cm squared - by 1cm high = 10,000 cubic cm.
So that is 100 litres.

Hi Guys - Whatever the sums mean I can confirm it is hissing it down - Martyn went out today ( Golfing trip ) Arrived about 9.0 this morning and it was raining, he rang me at about 4 this afternoon and it was still raining, heavily, with thunder and lightening, their game had to be called off on the 8th hole, because it was too bad to carry on - It's been really nice here
