consider buying uk

hi all,

just to let those know who might be at a dilemma as to whether to furnish the Spanish side or buy here in uk and ship out?? we have now taken the decision to buy here in uk the euro is so weak and we have bought most our goods through the sales and the buy now pay 2009!! it suited our situation perfectly ie no immediate funds up front. just a thought for people in similar circumstances

Having just fully completing the furnishing of our place from the Spanish side, I would have to admit that if I could wind the clock back I would have done it from the UK side, given a second chance.  Much better value to be had in the UK now I think - all things considererd.

That said, I am very happy with the finished results.........quality, deliveries etc & we did it all in 2 trips.......

However if you are just starting shipping form the UK at today's exchange rates must be a real option

I've just ordered all of my furniture on the internet in the UK. The sales & finance options are a real plus.

Done exactly the same and now buying all the big items except white goods from UK and having them shipped (driven) out. The cost of delivery will undoubtedly be recouped by knowing where to shop in the UK for deals etc.

Just need to make sure any companies I order from aren't on the brink of receivership or I'll have an empty van!

Having finally made a discision to get our butts into gear ,we too are taking advantage of the Sales. Have done some internet shopping too

The buy now pay later is the best option.

As for the rest.

I have been cheaky & have either given post dated cheques for day after delivery with 1 quarter paymnent up front.

(Dont forget to notify your bank of this just incase the company banks it prior to date. some banks may pay out otherwise.)

Companies wont offer this, you have to be cheaky and tell them you are dealing that way or not. ost companies have been ok.

If you are haveing large items put in storage till you ship everything out. Then no company will deliver without full payment. Its a security measure they all take.

If you are paying with a credit card your card should cover you if the company gpes bust. But check with your  card company first

We too are thinking of buying at uk sales we already have the beds & one settee but need bedside cabinets chest of drawers another settee etc., can you recommend a transport company for the journey from uk to spain of these items

I would strongly recommend elite european, absoulutely first class service, they delivered all my furniture and put it all in my apartment, not one thing was damaged in any way, not even the boxes, stored it in our apartment exactly where we wanted it, infact we are now doing some more sale shopping over here and are going to send some more over, including white goods, tv etc.Phone number is 01543467777.

Am I right in thinking that Elite  European is a midlands based company as the code  of 01843 is the Browmhills code ( I think ) from here in Walsall

However there is a gentleman name Allan he is from Teeside & I know quite a few people using this site have used him . I spoke to him in October. & was very impressed. Though as we have not got every thing yet I have not had a chance to speak to him again.

I know there is a thread somewhere with his telephone No,( I have it somewhere but cant think where) around the September / October time .

It might be worthwhile getting quotes from  both.

We've bought everything in the UK (great sales prices, good offers on credit, etc) and are shipping over with Elite European in Feb. They have so far provided a superb service at a reasonable cost and are a large company so feel secure with them and hopefully this will continue to the point of delivery in Spain (no reason to doubt this given the testimonials we've been given about them). The only things we'll get in Spain are electricals as it will keep things simple in case of any faults developing.

Elite european are now based in Cannock in the West Midlands, as has been said they are a proper removal company and therefore all your items are insured when they are being shipped across, its worth bearing that in mind, and they provide an excellent service.

Cannock isnt far from us either. However Allan also has full insurance for everything he transports .

So again I think its worth contacting both to see which  is the best deal.

I would defo recommend Allan.  We used him and he even checked that all of our snagging had been done when he delivered the outside furniture for us.  He is a really nice guy, very professional and fully insured.

Just shipped everything from UK, lock stock and barrel. The fall in sterling was our biggest incentive, plus having the time to shop for things individually to get what we wanted/good price back at home -- sales, ebay etc.  Obviously, we did the usual tour of the region's furniture shops first before coming to our decision but at least we know our way around a bit better now! 

We used Monarch UK & European Movers t: 01708 854545. They are based in Essex but they cover quite a wide area for collection I think. It all went very smoothly, we're delighted with the finished result.

We were really happy with the price and the service. Looking forward to the next visit being a holiday now...well with the odd bit of DIY thrown in maybe!
