Do Roda/Calidona care what we think?? I rest my case.
This is a company who cannot even get the water features we paid for to an acceptable standard. How do we expect them to care whether or not we get all the facilities we were promised.
We were also promised a gated community (thats why I chose Roda), look what has happened there. There will be others who will side with Roda on this topic and will say that this was not Roda's fault, it was the council who made that decision. However I feel that if some forward planning and thought had been put into it by Roda we would never have been promised a gated community.
Having said this, I love Roda but then when I take off my rose tinted spectacles, I feel I have paid an awful lot of money and for what???

Dear KRODA.
Do you not realise and obviously the salesman was vague, you ARE in a gated community. There is a security gate at the entrance where all car numbers are taken. A gated community does not mean that entrance into the developement is for owners only. You have a golf course that is open to the public and wil oneday (hopefully) have a hotel which will also be open to the public.
If Roda were a private community then owners would be asked to pay for the golf course/clubhouse maintenance as well.
I understand that we will also have people who do not fully grasp the situation buying on Corvera.
Gated really only means monitored.

With all due respect, I do fully grasp the situation. I do understand that the clubhouse and golf course are for public use too.
My salesman was not vague! Maybe I should have said what is the point of having security at the front gate when they can't even take correct car registrations, and members of the public are coming in, parking up and using our pools. Gated to me meant some sort of professional security.
I do have experience of this as I do own at Roda and it is not heresay!

Sorry to hear that the public are using your "private" facilities and not just the public ones. I suppose the prblem with security is who is an owner or renting an apartment and who is just a day tripper from the outside public. Has to be a discussion point for the Community although it's very hard to see an easy solution to the problem. I fully understand your situation and hope that you can find a resolution quickly.
PS. I though car reistration were recorded automatically by camera or is this just when the barriers are in operation? Also some of your community fee goes towards security. If they are not doing their job then the community should have some sort of recompense surely?

I don't know what way the registration works, but have noticed when it comes up on the signage there is maybe a wrong digit which I find strange. I presumed they made a mistake typing it in which I frequently do when sending a message on eos. Sometimes no registrations were visible at all, except previous ones which had gone ahead??

You've got to have the hotel to make the facility a 5* resort. It will provide the restaurant, spa etc and marketing through the DeVere brand. Drive past Roda and it looks like any other development, add the hotel with the DeVere logo and it becomes much more distinguished. At the moment with my golfing prowess it's a particlualrly nasty hazard.
How many people would have purchased without this commitment. Buying off-plan is risky, that should be reflected in the prices. Personally I don't think that it has been reflected enough and that's the issue. By using such a well-known and prestigious brand most people would not have anticipated such delays regardless of the current decision (which does make sense in the present climate).

WHILE HE IS LIKE EVERYBODY ENTITLED TO A VEIW , WOULD BE NICE IF THE FORUMNEW HIS STATUS

As a matter of interest why not Corvera? please be as honest and straight forward as possible.
Can I also ask why in this economic climate are your looking at Murcia?
Could you let me know if there are many developments that looks like work has stopped? or is it still looking busy?

Hi 65L,
Thanks for letting me know although I knew they have not stopped work on Corvera, I was more interested to know in general the building works going on in Murcia (i.e. it is not looking like a half built resorts being left, as some of the reports say!?).
You must of seem quite a few developments and talked to a lot of people (I did when I went!) what is the general feeling (i.e are they having difficulty in selling the properties?), are the developments running out of money and not being completed? are there Golfers out there playing Golf?
I would be interested to hear what developments did you visit and as much feedback on any of the above as you want to share with us, but any feedback would be good at this present time.,
I was also interested why did you say you would buy on Roda but definitely not Corvera? I am just interested from an investors point of view, as I am making some touch decisions soon.

Just checked calidona web site and calidona and the devere group have agreed to delay the building of the hotel untill the economic situation improves, dated 13/01/09

REGARDING THE HOTEL AT RODA , IT SAYS THEY WILL LOOK AT IT AGAIN IN 31st DECEMBER 2009
AFTER REACHING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DE VERERE GROUP NOT TO BUILD NOW,
THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL START BUILDING STRAIGHT AWAY............... SO SAY THAT START IN MID 2010
THAT MEANS NO HOTEL TILL 2013 ?????
PHASE 1 BUYERS BOUGHT IN 2006 DONT YOU THINK THAT WAITING FOR YOUR " LIFESTYLE 5 STAR HOTEL"
FOR 7 YEARS IS OK ?????? I FOR ONE DONT , IF I HAD BEEN TOLD WHEN I HANDED OVER MY DEPOSIT THAT THE
HOTEL WILL BE AT LEAST 7 YEARS TO BE FINSHED, I WOULD HAVE WALKED AWAY AND KEPT MY MONEY
I WONDER IF THEY ARE IN BREACH OF THE CONTRACT AND OUR CONSUMER RIGHTS ?????

Like everyone else I am disappointed about the delay of the hotel although not altogether surprised. However, dare I add that a half built shell of a hotel would be worse than nothing if DeVere and or Calidona ran out of money part way through? Whilst on, can anyone tell me what is happening to the commercial area? I had heard before Xmas that plans to build this and perhaps the tennis courts would take place even if the hotel was delayed?
