Returned relunctantly yesterday from MDLVII. We enjoyed 2 great weeks, catching up with friends old and new. Weather was mixed - quite cool in the mornings, warming up sufficiently for a quick bite (and compulsory cerveza of course!) on the terrace lunchtime, but really quite cold by the late evening. We also had the tail end on Friday and Saturday of those freak winds which hit Barcelona and South of France so badly. We were amazed that although some palm and other trees had snapped and there was debris of branches and bushes etc blown everywhere, that the oranges and lemons were still firmly attached to their trees at the end of it all. They look so pretty and delicate but they really must be very strong to withstand the typhoon-like winds we had at the end of the week.
Everything on site still looking good, and people seem generally content with their lot. We had a further couple of problems, but GM were very quick to put our problems right (well, hopefully - time will tell!)
We found what will forever be affectionately known to us as 'Lou's Beach' between Guardemar and La Mata. We tried to find it last time and failed, but I think we had better luck this time - will confirm it's 'Lou's Beach' with her later. It really is lovely; and with no bars or cafes (that we could see anyway) should be reasonably quiet and uncrowded in the summer.
Andy and Donna have now moved in lock stock and barrel and despite all the hard work, were smiling all the way. Good luck to them both, and to Andy with his on-line art course - I fear I'm a lost cause to him (having no artistic steak in my body), but he's a great artist and I'm sure an excellent teacher.
Alan and I hope to be half-timers come this April - but nothing in tablets of stone yet.
Thanks to everyone else for their usual warm welcomes and looking forward to meeting up with you all this coming year at some point..
Hope you're all alive and kicking and looking forward to your next break at MDLV Dos.
