Hi again. Back in the land of the living dead after three great weeks at our future retirement pad. Weather not brilliant and very noisy and dusty at times while the land opposite, including showhouse, was cleared. Some of you may not have heard, but the plans for the complex in front of us, have now been changed. Instead of the 24 (?) two storey complex which had been planned, we're now (apparently) having 14 luxury bungalows priced around the 300,000 euros mark. Before we get too excited though, remember that our apartments have been described as 'bungalows' too, so watch this space. Still, it must be good news in general for us and can't do us much harm having luxury houses built. It will be great if they are indeed one storey properties though. They will apparently each have nice gardens but a communal pool. The office which had been very carefully situated when we were out there in June, has now been crane lifted away again and the wall which had been constructed and painted all around, now demolished (as has the showhouse for Mirador). They had started to build a 6ft high wall around before we left. I'll try to upload some pics later, but up until now, I've not had much luck with that on EOS.
Lovely to have met Jo and James (thanks for calling on us), Sandra and Goff, Billy and his new dog, Blanca, which adopted him, and Donna & Andy and Joyce and Geoff and lots of others too. It's going to be a great community.
Enjoyed a good evening also at Mick and Pat's Silver Wedding - Congratulations to them both.
We discovered Rochales and it's market; also the market near Quisada on another day, which is a huge market. We also had two walks up to the palace in one day! -- only found the rough ground track the first time which frustratingly doesn't take you quite to the top and then we found the 'proper' path up a bit later. Unfortunately the palace was locked and you can only gain entry by appointment with the local police station so I've read. It was a cool day, so we were able to do it with just a little bit of puffing and panting. Not a trip to be recommended for anyone with disability though; my back is still recovering, and I was far from happy climbing up with no barriers to hold onto or stop you falling off the edge! Great views from there once you've made it though.
Any news from anyone else?
I'll be putting a message later on behalf of Gill and Eric who have asked me to help them out. They again, are a great couple, and we enjoyed time with them and their daughter, Jessie, whilst we were there.
All the best to everyone..
