Hi All

I don't wish to sound like a killjoy here, but I think I must be missing something.  I have looked at the new website by Terry and Jill and it looks good, but is it not just trying to do the same as EOS.  If people start posting topics on there instead of here are we not likely to miss out on important info, or is it that we should now be considering defecting to this new site and leaving EOS?

If Terry and Jill's website is a lot better and can do things that EOS can't then please let me know and I will more than happily join up as I don't want to miss out on the chat and banter with everyone.   Other than that I'm currently happy with EOS as a means of communicating with everyone and getting useful info.

Hi Simon,

I think the idea is that the other site is for the community of Condado, so we will be in touch with our presidents etc when elected, so will have a more hands on effect.  La Torre and Hacienda Requelme and the other PW sites all have their own community websites but people  still post on EOS.  There's no reason why we should desert EOS now.   I won't anyway.   See/speak to you both soon.   June

Hi Simon, I for one will continue to post on EOS, it has been a such a great website to help us get through buying & completion.

I think what Terry & Jill's website will be useful for is when we have a community set up, as with PHP forums enables you sticky topics so the same questions don't get repeated over & over again also information from Sergio will be put on there and we can discuss amongst ourselves within our own community forum.

The forum can then be set-up to answer questions from community presidents and Jardin Presidents in a format that each owner can can access, this would be impossible without any control over a forum.

I personally think it's a great idea as I have seen & read many of the problems on La Torre & other PW resorts with regards to communication and contacting presidents has resulted in endless conflicts, I think by Terry& Jill setting up this we will be one step ahead.

Thanks for your comments.  I now see where it fits in, and will now register on the site.  Like you, we will continue to use EOS as this has been a great source of info for us, and has also allowed us to meet lots of new people, even if we haven't got a clue what they look like - although hopefully this will change after Easter.  In fact, I'll be looking out for you Dan, now I know who to look for, I'll see if I can convince Ali to post a mugshot of herself on the site!!

Firstly I would like to wish Terry & Jill every success with this and the other ventures they are undertaking, the new site is looking good albeit in its infancy and I will be happy to join in the future. However EOS is a well established and well run site with information on every area of owning and living in Spain, all at a standard which you would find hard to find on other forums, this along with the many people I have come to know and trust both on this forum and the general forum even if not yet met has made our process of buying our property much smoother.  it will be a long time if ever before I consider not regularly reading and contributing to EOS. The balanced way Justin and the team run the site is exemplary and I would hope Terry & Jill can come some way close to operating theirs in a similar way.  I think there is plenty of room for other forums, I like others on this forum are members of more than one forum, but this one is the only one I regularly contribute to as it’s the only one so far I consider relevant to my needs and worth bothering with but hopefully this will soon be two.

Just one thing I may have misunderstood, I though Terry & Jill’s new site has been set up as a commercial venture owned and run by them in the same way EOS is. Dan’s post gives me the impression that I may be wrong and that it’s to be a community owned and run site governed by its members (The Community) this would be excellent if it’s the case, as I do think this sort of provision would be good but I am not sure this new site is?

Hi Phil good point, at the moment our community has not been set up as of yet, I can only speak for myself on this but I consider Sergio as my community representative, as he has agreed with Terry & Jill to use the site as a medium to discuss issues and post his blog on the latest issues and news, I would in my opinion say at this moment in time it is a community site.

Feel free to add, I may be wrong! maybe Terry & Jill will add something to this?

Either way this question has no relevance for my good wishes to Terry & Jill for the work and future of the new site, as I said plenty of room for competition and provision in this area, however it would be helpful to know its status and as you say perhaps Terry or Jill could contribute.

Hi Dan and Phil, as the satalites or "machine crashed" there has not been internet on Condado so sorry for the delay, but in answer to your questions.. (Dan I tried to download a mugshot but didnt manage that, see why we had the site built!!)

We created this site as a community portal, for the community to add information relating to our community.

It is not owned by the community but for the community, We, after spending many hours with Sergio consider him a very important person in our community and to be able to give him somewhere where he can discuss issues that he is dealing with for us as a community and guide us, he has equipped himself with a lot of very valuable information and knowledge.

A forum, like the one we are on is great, we use it ourselfs and do not intend to replace it we will only deal with the community of Condado, bring updates to you on Condado and hopefully it will be used by the community and vacationers as it was intended.

Alot of confusion can erupt on a forum which is why Sergios post is not editable, however we do welcome anyone that has something to say to the community to submit their information so everyone can read it without going through 1000s of posts. A forum is part of the site it is not intended to be all of the site. Just enjoy the information on it and submit anything you would like to say on it.

Sorry we have not had time to get around to all the residents, if you could let your keyholders/cleaners know that they can contact me for free submission into the classifieds, this will be helpful as people start to close on the new properties. Its a free service for all residents, please help us get the word out there. A few more are now on there now but we still have a few more.

Key holders and cleaners will need to work together if the summer season is to go smooth for all the owners, I think to the thousands of closed properties there are only about 6 keyholders on Condado...
