town centre

Town centre coming on well - been down this morning and all the palm trees are planted inside. They are the height of the exterior walls and although still wrapped at top look good healthy trees.

Also just finishing the brown rendering on the back wall so all the outsides should be complete by tonight.

Look to be tidying up the edge of the water feature so I can see tiling commencing before long.

Lot of iron reinforced grids for concrete floor outside so that should also be imminent.

They are pulling out all the stops and it should be fantastic when finished.

Where out in May working on our apartment (great rather be relaxing with a bottle or 2),does anyone know when the Foro will be opening?

They were saying May for the opening of the Foro, but I think that has now become June.  No idea when in June although I am sure our resident Condadonians will keep up updated as to progress and provide photos as it nears completion.

Enjoy working on your apartment - it will all be worthwhile and then you can relax with that bottle or two!

What will be in the Foro Town Centre once complete..?? Irish bar and any other type of bar or will the remaining units be restaurants? Does the town centre appear as though it will be reasonably big?

Will it do us until work on the bigger Oasis kicks off?

They are building the internal walls now inside some of the units. We had a walk inside when over at Easter.

They will be an Irish (British) bar, 2 restaurants and the supermarket. Also a doctors room. 

These will only take up 3000 sq mts though, the Foro will be able to house 8000 sq mts though so less than half full at the moment. Although it is such a tall building we wandered up onto the roof to see if they could use it as a second floor for some of the restaurants, it doesn't seem that they will use it for seating though as the floor was all laid to different slopes to aid drainage.

At the last meeting it was mentioned the Foro would be complete in July which we feel is more realistic as this is when the British start taking their summer holidays and the Spanish generally have August off, so they will want it open I'm sure by then.

I know i am jumping the gun a bit, but when we over last (Feb) we found out that they had obviously changed plans regarding the town centres in where they are situated. But does anybody know if they are still going ahead with the La Isle town centre as that one looked even bigger than the foro when we saw it on some litrature?

I know they are supposed to be building some kind of snack bar on La Isla itself but I don't believe work has commenced as of yet.

Also, the bigger development that you are speaking about is the Oasis. The feedback from Polaris was that whilst it was only the Oasis town centre that had been put on hold the future of the other 2 courses on Condado had not been confirmed. This is clearly a concern as I purchased a penthouse on La Isla in good faith because of the expected facilities and views over a Jack Nicklaus golf course. I couldn't get them to commit to anything in terms of dates when these 2 courses will commence.

I totally understand the reasons for the delays but I get frustrated in the pack of communications from Polaris.

The concern I have is around the facilities in terms of bars and restaurants and the really big concern for me is around the progress of the other 2 golf courses, the main club house and all other facilities that were promised in the marketing literature that originally prompted all of uf to buy on such a development.



 

Went in town centre yesterday and progress is amazing! Floor round pool half concreted, all palm trees in, some false canopies up on inside walls, entrance frames into shops installed with glass in doors, suspension wires from roof for false ceilings, kerbs for car park set up, looks like car park will be surrounded by green areas and plants. It is massive inside. Looks great, will try to post some pics from internet cafe.

I guess the restaurants and bars will be similar to those on La Torre? I have to say I thought the Bamboo bar was great as was the Irish bar and I suspect the new additions at the Foro like be equally as good. Even better as it is only a short walk over to Ia Isla so no excuse for not finding my way home!

Just out of interest what was the main reason for the Foro moving locations? Was it not oroginally planned to be down by the tennis courts? Is this due to the fact that the Oasis has been delayed or has it been cancelled?

Also, does anyone know if the proposed town centre 'El Agora' or something will still go ahead where the club house will be located? The visual plan that I saw some time ago indicated a few pagolla type things over looking the course with a selection of facilities?

One final thing, is the snack bar still likely to happen on La Isla? Will La Isla be open to other residents as well?

There will now only be the one Town Centre 'Foro' to share between Jardines and Los Naranjos

Original site for El Agora is now just going to be a landscaped garden area I believe (opposite the clubhouse)

The credit crunch has a lot to answer for !

I wonder if the planned bar area on La Isla will also be canned now that 'Foro' is in walking distance to La Isla..??

They are allegedly starting work on the golf course adjoining La Isla as soon as the first one is finished ie November 2009.

It was the guy in the sales office which houses the model of the resort so take it with a pinch of salt. I told him I was an existing owner so he didn't need to give me any sales patter.

At the North end of the site will be sports facilities for the wider local community, alhama council offices and I think he said a fire station. Presumably all part of the planning bribe (sorry section 106 agreement) .
