We've just picked out an apt on block 9 penthouse..but we've just been turned down by barclays for a mortgage...considering we have already paid half of the purchase price i think its a bit shitty...
Question is...what other banks have the good folk on Condado used to receive mortgages??
Cheers

I didnt see an application form on the cajamurcia website that you could use to apply? or maybe i missed it somehow :) or maybe you meant everything was done through email correspondance.
Again thanks.

Hi.
As Darren said, look into the builder's mortgage,It is done with the mnimum of fuss,no Survey or valuation required as it had already been done on the original mortgage.
At the time I enquired about a Barclay's mortgage, and was quoted fees notary etc of 1300e.

We were also turned down late in our application by both Kuxta and Barclays - like you I was aggrieved when the mortgage was so small, but this was late last year - when all the bankers knees were knocking together....
I would also endorse BanCaja (or bank-haha as we call them) - also really good and switched on - the online banking with them is excellent and the branch at San Javier where the mortgage is based are very helpful and responsive, as someone else has said, Bancaja are major backers of PW so its in their interest to mortgage you up !

Hey Snorky, did you apply online for your mortgage or did you have to apply in person? Yeah i agree the Ban ha ha site is really good and gives you a fair idea of what you your mortgage repayments could be with their loan sim. It is apin trying to sort out everything from home rather than being out there...cant get out at the minute and we're only back 4 weeks after picking an apt.

We couldnt face and didnt have the time to sort this all out ourself so we used a mortgage broker based in Marbella who name is Patrick Robinson (he posts as "smiley" on the EOS forum) he was a total star and did everything for us by e/mail - he charges a fee but for the amount of running around he did for us on our application I didnt resent him a penny

I agree with earlier sentiments re. Bancaja
I have a mortgage with them - I have internet access to view my accounts and also get monthly statements sent through the post

I also signed with Caja Murcia, subrogate on the builder mortgage, saving on the cancellation fee (normally around 1%) and a new valuation of the property.
I think that in the situation the banks are because of the crisis, and considering that the price the property has been dropped dramatically, it will be more difficult to get a new mortgage than keeping the one from Polaris.
Also for Caja Murcia it will be less risky to pass on the mortgage to the buyer, which has paid so far a lot of money, than keep I do not know how many thousands with Polaris, which is suffering because of the crisis, The banks are really afraid that a construction company might go under liquidation and they have to keep of those houses. I really believe it won't happen with Polaris that so far had demostrated they are surviving after all!
Bienvenida Penalver, who is also my contact person, was pregnant at that time, so I think she might be in maternity leave, but there might be other with very good English to talk to you!
Hope this information help you
