Hi All
My friend Arlene (AJW) asked me to post this thread to alert anyone using Gold Car going through Murcia Airport. She is out at CDA at the moment and has no access to internet.
Even though she booked through DoYouSpain, person on desk at Goldcar was quite forceful and tried to bully her into paying for "fully Comprehensive Insurance", even though DYS includes this along with no excess. Think harsh words were spoken but I dont know if she paid the extra or not - have not had a chance to speak to her over the weekend.
Think anyone booking through DYS should print out their terms and conditions so that you can show person on car hire desk you are fully covered (thats what I always do and I have not had any probs).
Anyway, knowing Arlene, I would think she stood her ground

I have only used Gold Car once and agree be warned they are really expensive for fuel, totally rip you off as well as usually having largest queue at their desk. They do try to bully you into taking insurance cover and I for one would never use them again.

probably owned by Ryanai..
often the cheapest but bear in mind the fuel. check with Solmar & Auriga and add the extra 20-30 euros for petrol
then choose cheapest.
Just say no to extra insurance, nothing they can do about it.
Problem is that for xmas period & easter ALL car rentals are already very expensive compared to last year. Book early.

My friend has just landed at Murcia airport and booked her car through Gold Car on the Doyouspain web site.
When she got there she was charged 120 euro for a tank of fuel !
What a rip off.
We won't be using this company next time we go out.
Sue.

We always book through Doyouspain and had cars from Auriga.
They have changed their policy and don't charge for petrol.
If the car is half full you take it back the same as you picked it up.

I always use Do You Spain and had all the cars through Auriga and been very happy with them
I made a booking for late January and the original confirmation from DYS confirmed to pick the car up from Auriga. However, about 2 weeks ago they emailed me an amended confirmation which now confirms the car is with Gold Car
Not sure what to read into this but I have cancelled the booking for now and will look for alternative quotes

I think Auriga vary thier policy when It suits.
I always book Auriga but last time if i took the car offered I had to pay 55 euros for fuel but if I paid an upgrade of €35 for a focus I could have a half full return half full car???.
I took this option as I didnt intend doing many miles so it worked out about the same cost (I put €20 of fuel in).
I can see why the companies dont do a full/full policy as you can never return truly full but to charge €70 for a tank of fuel for a KA or similar is not right.
There are companies who do full/full at Murcia but may not be as cheap as Auriga on car hire.
I suggest using a search engine like economy car hire but before booking ring or e mail the two cheapest say Auriga and Sol-mar and ascertain their fuel policy at San Javier.
Then make an informed decision and take all of the paperwork with you.

Hi
Try Dickmanns car hire, they operate out of a white van in car park. I had a ford focus for a week cost 146 + 38 euro for fuel, I have also booked for 3 days in November Renault Clio for 41 euro, much cheaper than doyouspain

Which ever car hire company you use make sure on collecting that you have a high viz vests and warning triangle they are a must in Spain.
Not all car hire company put them in you have to ask some and then they try to charge.
