I have a 2 bedroom apartment in block 59 I am paying a community charge of 176 euros per month but we were told it would be about 125 euros per month . can anybody tell me what they are paying, did anybody go to the AGM in June when these costs were agreed ,asI did not receive any information regarding the date of the AGM.
I am going out again at the end of October, will post new photos when I return.

Hi,
I attended the session and I posted some highlights from the meeting at the time that you can look at.
I agree with you that we were all mislead over the level of te charges. We were told that for a three bed appartment we would be paying between 90 to 100 Euros per month, but the actual figure is double that so what you are being charged is about right. It is a shame that with the weak pound the amount seems to be a lot more. I was voted in as president our block (block 17) and would make a few comments on the experience and other things that I have picked up:
- My view is that the service provided by Resortitalia is well worth the money. Dealing with them has been very professional and they certainly have our interests at heart in solving our problems;
- Although our rates are high, we do get some things that I didn't expect. For example, the TV system is paid for in the community charge so provided you are prepared to be robbed by Polaris over the initial cost of the box there is no more to pay;
- There are opportunities to reduce the level of the charges in future years. For example, we are picking up Polaris' security cost so this is one cost saving we can target.
- Speaking to someone who has bought on Hacienda, they had a similar expereience. The charges were much higher at the start than they expected, but Resortitalia re-negotiated the contracts they inherited from Polaris and reduced the fees;
- As mentioned, once the phase 2 people join us, then the people on the other phases, they they will all be sharing some of the costs. So the sooner you join us the better!

Just a quick update. We had a Presidents' meeting last Tuesday, which went very well. Resortitalia are working hard to reduce our charges and are highly confident that the charges will be lower next year. A big problem is that they have had to inherit a number of Polaris contracts, but as they renew these they are going out to tender.
The news from Polaris is also very positive. They are expecting completion of Phase 2 by the end of the year and that the golf course will be open. We also spoke to a Polaris employee at Hacienda who is moving to work on our course. He has been given an end December/ early January date for his transfer.

I understand that the phase 2/12 blocks will be completing in the first half of 2010 with dates to be advised to owners in January 2010.
Still some way off but at least there will be more owners to share some of the burden of inherited Polaris costs which, if I have understood earlier threads, will reduce the community fees overall.
