Any advice on obtaining a wireless internet connection in Condado. I've been told you can by a dongle with no time limit for expiry. Where can I buy one? Would I still need to install a router?
Thanks for any help

Hi Liz,
If you onlt need it for holidays, so don't want a monthly contract I'd take a look at http://www.citrusred.es/pay-as-you-go-broadband.html
The dongle is from MasMovil, but sold through an agent ( citrusred ). The speed you get will depend on the signal were you are, I got 3G& HSPDA in Naranjos 1 and I know people in penthouse block 10 and Jardines 10 that both get a good signal as well so the coverage at CdA seems ok.
The local agent is a chap called David Rook, we contacted him the week before we went over and sorted out getting it activated so that it would be on the air from day one, otherwise you have to activate it youself and set up the bank details etc on-line. We then met him at the sunday market at Canadas del Romero to collect the dongle, were on-line within minutes.
David's email is DAVIDROOK1@GMAIL.COM or tel 661804266.
If you decide to get one tell him Phil Tann put you in touch.
Cheers
Phil

Just purchased and now using the dongle from Citrus Red through David Rook. Works brilliantly and only costs 3cents per megebyte of data. Sat in our penthouse on the top floor of block 11 the signal is excellent and the speed just as fast as BT at home. A good method of getting reasonably priced internet in Spain if you ask me and would recommend David.
We ended up buying a new laptop from Citrus Red also as there are problems with loading the software on Windows 7.
The weather is rubbish just now so need to access the internet!

Hi,
Lets just say at the moment it's variable. It all seems to depend on which garden you are in. I know some that are ok, but others where you are lucky if its works 1 day a week. Mine is intermittant, when it works it's great but sometimes it will down down for days at a time, which is why I have a dongle as well. ( i start getting the shakes if off line for more than a few hours, which is why I have a modem, a dongle and an iPhone ) So if you know someone in you garden that has a connection ask them how reliable it is to get an indication, but in general let's just say it's flakey.
Oh, and yes they are still installing on monthly contract,
Phil

Hi Steve & Isabel,
The PW is a €30 monthly contract, so if you are only using on holidays the dongle will work out much cheaper.
In fact, even if you are resident, the dongle could be cheaper depending on usage.
