A quick one....can anyone come along and play? When I am over at Easter, I would really like to get a game, and if there is a regular meet, and one-timers are welcome, than this would be great
Cheers
Foz

Hmmm, 36 points in strong winds, on the Condado challenge..............................looks like the bandits have riden into town already.
. Looking at the photo's, it seems like the 'seniors' have got a good handle on how to 'tame the beast' !!
Regards,

No gimees jeb321.
Yes Foz anyone can play but do need to book names at least day before so proshop girl can check who are members etc so she knows what to charge. It can take ages to get money off 10-20 people when you get rights members, Condado only members, people who want buggies (or dont ) and we have to write out cards, collect entries, check shots extra from slope system handicap table arrage pairings and times etc.
It might seem simple to just turn up, get a card and go to 1st tee but it isn't.
Preferably book at Clover 19.00 on Wednesday or email me/ send private message

Cant wait to give the course a spin!!!!

Friday golf society today had 11 entries ( some new visitors included).
Started off windy but sun came out and wind dropped.
Again scores showed how difficult the course is with the winning score being 33 pts.
It was so close with all scores ranging from 33 - 26 and if all those 'if only' counted the winners could have been different.
Winners decided (as always) not on back nine but lowest handicap wins. They have less shots so they deserve it.
1st.....................Mark Nolan (8.1) 33pts
2nd.....................Barry Barker (15.0) 33pts
3rd.....................Keith Hughes (16.0) 33pts
4th.....................Kim Lloyd (18.5) 33pts
Hope we have more entries next week (school holidays). Remember there is the Hi5 pro tour event here next week and the course is closed from 11.00 Mon to 13.00 Thurs.
You can contact me if you want to play Friday either on private message or email barrybarker90@yahoo.co.uk.
Meeting on Wednesday at 19.00 in Clover
Barry

20 entries today which is very good. We need to keep it up to get reductions in green fees. Now we get 45 E where it is 55E normally.
Norwegians started in the rain then weather calmed down but then wind got up. So all competitors had problems.Who won deserved it !
Thanks to the 8 Norwegians who tried their hardest but perhaps need a bit more practice on our very difficult course!
Winners
Men
1st................Graham White 35 pts (on lowest handicap)
2nd................Barry Barker 35 pts
Ladies
1st................Kim Lloyd 28pts

Hope to join in when I'm out next. Regards Tim.

What tees are these games played from??
Anything near 36 points off those back tees would be quite an achievement. Even off the "shorter" tees I'd be pretty happy with anything over 30 points.

a few of us played twice last week but didn't finish either round due to the atrocious weather - got to the tenth first time and 13th (unlucky for some) second time - certainly did not expect so much rain and the cold .... it was just like home ! Ah well here's 'til next time (April) when hopefully we can take part in the society competition.................. weather apart really enjoyed the course while it was dry - it's fair off the yellow markers and the bunkers well placed to catch stray shots or to make you think about what to hit - greens are fantastic and difficult to read - fairway grass was a strange brown colour - ???

Just posted photo of losers in the society day. Multinational losers who have made friends from Wales, Norway and England!
This was about 5 hours after we had finished playing and of course I had to be there to take the picture!

A record 30 entries this week. Thanks to the 6 Galwegians who joined us on their trip and took away some beer money!
Now getting 20 plus every week but can Polaris guarantee us a few regular Friday lunchtime slots?
No .......even though we brought in over 1000E for them on Friday No wonder they are under threat of liquidation when they won't take advantage of such regular income.
We have other options such as green fees of 18E at Corvera if we bring minimum of 14 players.
I got 20 scorecards from the shop last week but forgot to take them to the Wednesday meeting so I asked for more .... the manager told me they cost 44 cents each and to bring the others back!
If the manager is responsible for costs he should also try to maximise profits.
Wake up Polaris.

Barney, these folks at PW haven't a clue, it's a joke that you've been treated like that, I am, was, looking forward to the golf at PW but this has really put me off......44cents for a scorecard, jeez that's pathetic!!!!

Barry,
This is typical of Polaris and I have pointed this out in many of my previous posts on a whole array of different business scenario's they seem clueless about. It is a new resort competing with many others in the area. You would think they would be putting every incentive possible in place to draw in the customers, keep them interested and keen to make return visits. Unfortunately, we can not dictate the way they run their business but it does, and will continue to affect us as a community that are keen to become established & popular.
On my recent visit to El Valle, both myself and resident friends noticed the standard of the food presented after our round of golf had dropped right off. They said the same thing about a meal they attended a couple of evenings earlier.
Great to see the society picking up momentum and I look forward to 'throwing my ball in the bag' so to speak and joining you all on whatever course you feel we will be getting good value from. You have probably noticed there is a group from San Cayetano who post details of their golf days out and they have some cracking little deals going at good quality resorts (breakfast, golf, sanwiches & snacks for 45 euros) so it just goes to show that some golf resorts know how to attract custom by giving societies keen prices.
Regards,

A great entry of 36 players for last Friday.
Unfortunately the heavens opened overnight and 16 players chickened out (myself included!).
However 20 hardy souls braved the elements and all deserved a prize for going out.
The results were:
1st Division
1st.............................Andrew Lailey 37pts
2nd............................Dave Storey 32pts (on back nine)
2nd Division
1st..............................Mike Statham 32pts
2nd.............................Mick Parsons 31pts
