George,
We asked Graham on the 1st tee last friday about this. He said society rules are to drop away from the grasses/bushes in the "desert" areas if you are going to damage them with swing or stance. But that the course has no specific rules regarding these areas.

It is true that relief is not mentioned on the card but we decided to continue free drops for the society at the moment and will choose a date to remove this relief (under a local rule for the society) and publicise it.
Also sorry for the delay in posting last weeks update on the 2 major cup competitions and news of the clubhouse etc. Was away for the weekend then internet down (again) until yesterday morning. So much to put on the blog this week - jusy taken 5 hours to get everything on! Lots of pictures of golf, presentation night, clubhouse, so go and have a look at www.cdagolf.com.

How many members are there on CDA at the minute? Is there ever any competitions held between the PW resorts? Does any one know what the plan is for CDA hosting any bigger competitions? Are there certain conditions courses need to comply with before they can host anything bigger?

On Society rules...I think a temporary rule on the watwer hazards is needed.
Something along the lines of if you are in the hazard below the grass line you need to treat it as being "wet" and play from point of entry.
I have seen people removing obstacles from around the ball or their stance, having a few practice swings...basically treating it like an extension of the rough.
On top of this what happens if eventually someone splits the black coverings with a shot from the hazard, these I assume are there for a reason...maybe to keep the water from leaking out when the lakes are full.
Also from a playing point of view people are being able to play from 3-4m within a "lake"...surely thats not fair. If the rating of the course is as tough as it is the lakes and hazards play a big part...and being able to chip up for example on the 11th after landing short makes a bit of a mockery of this.

Fair comment Shane.......you are correct in everthing you say. The committee will discuss this and also ask Global Golf to get involved - it is not only society golfers who are doing this.
The rules of golf state that a player should drop their ball within 2 clublengths of the point where the ball crossed the hazard. Then it is allowed to roll a further one clublength (which won't help anyone on the bank of the lake). The hazard is an imaginary line between the red stakes - not the nearest flat area of land. I have also seen players dropping on the edge of the fairway from the lake (which is near enough 10 yards away)..
Also yes, the lining will get damaged when players play out of the lake. I have mentioned this to Global Golf before in an attempt to get the lakes filled. Also it was very sad to see the lake on the 5th completely empty, and with the 13th lake also empty it is the only downside to our fabulous course. I have heard visitors saying the same in the shop. The answer I overheard was that they would not be filled in summer due to evaporation. But the course in Los Alcazares is a lakeland course with more water than grass - but all their lakes are full!
Just a point to anyone who read this week's blog yesterday - I have added another paragraph mentioning there will not be a blog for the next 2 weeks.

In reply to Mark Bentley, if you google Evolve Golf Tour you will find Condado reinstated onto fixtures. We lost this tour last year due to not having Clubhouse, or suitable place for players to wait after being called off the course for high winds. From memory we have two Pro comps before Xmas and one after. Condado is the best course in the Murcia region and now we have a clubhouse hopefully word will spread and we will get other tours coming.

Might be a daft statement but why can't they fill all our lakes including La Isla with sea water if they are not to be used as irrigation points?
