This week the society has moved to the Condado Club for meetings, presentations and general drinking!

Thanks to Neil, Paul, Lynne and Rachel for a fantastic opening night under trying conditions.

It is certain to be a rip - roaring success.

Results, news and pictures of the opening night are at www.cdagolf.com

For everyone who is wondering what the fixtures are for November and December I have just posted them on the society website

Phil has the free diary/fixture list for 2012 which members can collect when they are next out.

Great to see the distances have been put on the sprinkler heads.  Always thought that was one of the nice extras on the other "polaris" courses.

NORWAY WINS THE VIKING CUP !!!

In a dramatic finish Norway beat the UK.

67 players took part and nearly 100 went to the presentation night at Trevis.

See photos and report at www.cdagolf.com

I take it from this, rather unnecessary, comment that you didn't come to the evening presentation, otherwise you would of seen exactly were all the entry fee money went.

Slicer

Would you like to put a real name to your pseudonym so we can discuss it with you personally?

I am sure you are someone we know and it seems strange that it has only been brought up after the Viking Cup which has caused some controversy.

Barry

(see I always post under my real name)

I take "Slicer" didn't win any thing ? probably lost his balls on the 5th hole !! very sad. I wouln't get to embroiled with this character Phil & Barry he obviously has an axe to grind, and fails to  appreciate the hard work you put into making the Golf Society and the resort a success

Hi All,

I am deeply hurt by the comments being made at the moment.

The people that give of their time and energy to the society do so at no cost to anyone but themselves. We all pay the same amount as any other member but put a lot more back in. I trust each and every committee member implicitly, (otherwise I would not work with them). That is not to say that we are perfect, we do from time to time make mistakes.
I have no issue with anyone coming directly to the committee or any member thereof and asking questions or giving their frank/honest views.
The publicly made comment on eye on spain however feels to me to be very vindictive and in my view the perpetrator is a coward and a trouble make otherwise he or she would state there name.
This and other comments that I have been made aware of, (made by our own members) really make me feel like distancing myself from the running of the golf society and if all the committee members were to take the same view, well there would be no golf society. Recently we have asked for some help but not received any offers as yet!

The committee has not now or at any time asked for praise, recompense or even appreciation, (although many members do state their appreciation) but we none of us deserve to be treated like this.

To all the honest, upright members (of which their are many) I would ask that you please feel free to ask the committee any questions that may arise (before they become an issue). To the trouble makers all I have to say is, get a life!

Catherine Emmett-Smith

Go to Spam post let us know  and report your feelings to EOS

I have sent  "This abuse of the forum and the person responsible should not be allowed to have any name on EOS again"

there are too many people who hide behind a name and send abuse like this , everyone should tell EOS that we will not tolerate it.

People who hide behind names are no more than cowards and trouble makers and are out to cause CDA problems.

to post on EOS dont you have to have a valid e mail address so the administrators can identify the person as some of the comments are very close to slanderous??

I agree with other posts that the committee do a lot of work for no reward and if it wasnt for these people there would not be a society and remember, for those with no formal handicap to bring to the party, they may struggle to play so societies have a positive role to play to help golfers like me.

So if you are a society member slicer please ask the questions in a civil way or ask them face to face if you wish to call people dishonest!!

The Viking Cup was played as a Non Society Challenge event so by definitio No Society funds were made available. Out of the 2 Euro entry, a sum of money was paid to one of our Norwegian friends for buying and bringing the trophies from Norway, a sum of money was usedt give everyone playing a drink as they came off the last green and what was left was given to buy raffle prizes for the presentation night. Every Euro was spent to the benefit of the particpants
Fridays comp was a combined competition to include Senior players who played for thier own trophy donated by two of our Society members, as well as the weekly sweep where every player had a chance to win. No sweep money was paid out to winners of Seniors prizes although they could, and did win in the weekly sweep.
The value of the sweep was 153Euro ( why the odd number I do not know, maybe Slicer did not pay full amount!)
There was a ladies division which included 10 players so 20 Euro was paid out to the first and second.
The balance (133euro) was split between mens first and second divisions where the first four places in each division collected 40, 30, 2

Slicer seems to have slithered back under the rock from whence he came.

Can I just add my support to the residents who run the golf society, in my view, very efficiently. For someone like me, who can only visit a few times a year, playing with the society is always something to look forward to. Like many others, I'm sure I take what you do for granted. But without you, our golf would be a lot more expensive and far less social.

So simply, please don't be put off by cowards who hide behind pseudonyms. The benefits that the golf society, through your joint efforts, have brought to our resort cannot be underestimated.

Don't let the buggers get you down!
