Morning Barry,
What is the 'official' word on the lakes being continually low - particulalry on holes 5 & 13? Does the society still have regular meetings with IRM..? The course on these 2 holes is an eyesore, & am interested to know if they EVER intend to do anything about it. Do you have any contact details for IRM Golf, that we could contact..?
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick, when asked at last mtg with IRM the answer was NO MONEY. Playing other IRM courses we are not alone. With the exception of El Valle, all other courses have low water levels. Wish it were different but money rules I'm afraid to say.

Hi Dave,
Hope you are well & thanks for the reply.
Is it clear what is wrong with the lakes though Dave. ie Is it just the cost of a re-fill, or are the linnings knackered & needs replacing? Are the problems on both the low (or no) level lakes the same.
I understand the cost issue of course, but if the linning is an issue, could they not consider repairing those, so at least we can take any advantage of any winter rain..?
What sort of frequency does the society meet with IRM..? I hope we still keep the item on the agenda
Cheers
Nick

Hi Nick,
Thanks we are well and enjoying a bit of winter warmth.
From what i can see the linings seem to be ok. Hole 13 has been filled to about 60% and this is the main lake for irrigation purposes. We discuss this with IRM at our meetings but have no control over course. Below are my views.
Hole 4 filled up slightly from the heavy storm in September and it seems IRM took advantage of having it part filled from storm and topped it up, again to about 60.
Hole 5 is just about empty. There is a trace of water from storm and recent rains but that is all. Do not know if liner damaged but do not think so. This is the lowest lake and not used for irrigation so I think IRM are happy to leave this empty.
Hole 9,10,11 and 18 are all about 60% full also. Cost is a major factor as we are continually told and as long as they have water to irrigate course they are happy. We asked about part filling with concrete (or similar) to reduce amount of water reqd but to date had no response.
El Valle lakes were not full during October but were filled prior to Pro tour and Q school qualifying last week. Other courses are the same as ours, 60% ish, but none of them have any empty lakes. Same with Hacienda de Alamo.
Obviously would like all full, but cannot see this happening soon. Other than water the course is looking and playing very well.
