Just got back from Condado and after 5 rounds have to say the course is in fantastic condition. The areas between the holes still need taking care of but the fairways and greens are brilliant. And for €30 I don't think you could play on a course of this standard anywhere in the world.
Would also like to add my thanks to Barry and Graham who do such a great job organising the society and all the tee times/competitions etc. They have done brilliantly for all the golfers in negotiating the set tee times and the reduced rates along with notices/info in the pro shop. And I believe there will be a bar area for the society in the new clubhouse. The society makes it so much easier when over in Condado to meet, play, and socialise with other residents/holiday makers so a big thanks to the guys and the rest of their helpers for all the time and effort they put in.
Can't wait for my next trip.
Shane

Don't forget it is captains day this Saturday so if you are over at Condado get your name down!
Lots of prizes, nearest pin, longest drive, divisions, 2's comp and a night out after at the clover!
So far we have 47 entries , a week to go and still the Wednesday meeting to come, so looks like another record breaker.
Even if your golf is not great, you will make new friends.
Barry

Last minute change of plan for captains day Saturday August 14th.
Polaris have just put notices up everywhere advertising all day/night event in Al Kasar. This means there will be nowhere for us to have our planned captains day presentation.
So now we are having the presentation of prizes in Garden 4 los naranjos where Graham lives. We expect 70 players on the day so they and their partners/children are all welcome. Bring your own chairs/table/drinks - it will be a cheap night!
The presentation of the many prizes will be at 8pm with a hog roast at 9pm. This costs 8 euros each so either let me know if you want it or add your name to the list in the golf shop. Need estimated numbers to decide size of pig!
Very grateful for all the sponsors who have donated prizes they will be mentioned in despatches next week.
I shall also be writing an article (with pictures) for the Costa Calida Chronicle which should be in the September issue.
Barry

Probably just another example of their pure ignorance of how to treat their customers. Any decent pub would have done their best to organise facilities to encourage the partners and children to come along. Another snub to the golf society which I can't fathom as it brings in customers for them...well until September/October anyway.

Captains day went very well with another record turn out of 56 players. We avoided the rain and had the presentation in naranjos garden 4 with live music provided by Mick Parsons and a hog roast for 90 people.
Comments and photas can be seen on the society website at

Hi Nick
Fairways and greens look good but not much action in bunkers. Keep seeing odd greenkeeper in 10th bunker but then disappear. All buggy paths have been cleaned but no sign of proactive work to avoid a repeat. October is traditionally the wettest month so we shall see.......
Also it appears Polaris have registered an objection to our new clubhouse. How dare they at the same time they close the restaurant?

Polaris have objected to the clubhouse!
They have some nerve don't they....not providing the facilities including clubhouse to start with....then closing facilities.
And when someone comes along that will provide something for the resort they object.
Then again I can see their reasoning....they have p*ssed off so many people with their "customer service" that they know for certain many people would take their business to any alternative.
I was always happy with the idea that commercial activity on CDA was restricted as I didn't want shops etc sprouting up all over the place. But now it seems ridiculious that we have an empty "town centre" because it's run by a company who won't entertain any competition, and now will try to stop compeition from anywhere on the resort.

On what grounds did Polaris Object?
Is this true (probably is) or could it be Olagolf's exucse for not building a clubhouse?

i thought Olagolf just managed it, i thought it was owned by the banks now?. so why would Olagolf need to build a club house. Surely this should be a bum fight between the banks and Polaris.
I did hear when over there that the club house was going to be flat packed and shipped over.. Cant see how you can run pro-events without a club house..
as owners do we not have a leg to stand on when everyone bought into something that clearly is never going to happen...
