Discount Card - Advice

Hi All

Polaris World have just phoned me asking if I have a discount card and if I want to buy one

I have read a few things over the months on this subject  -  I said that I am in Condado next week they said that they would send me the membership number by email - will this be suffcient to utilise the discounts? - I seem to recall someone having difficulty at the Clover and the Restaraunt at some point but don't know details

What are the benefits and is it still viable?

I also want to know the answer to the previous post - also I emailed re infomation on the discount card and they wanted me to buy 2 I was under the impression that one card would be enough for my husband and myself?

I applied for Discount card in February but still hadn'd received it by time we left for Condado two weeks ago.I printed off confirmation email before I left and used it without any trouble at all in both the bar and the restaurant.Still to receive vouchers that come with the card but you should be fine as long as you take email confirmation with you.Great value 10% at bar and if there are two of you 50% off in restaurant or if more than 2,free meal for one person.

Card is only valid for one person and not per family.I applied for Card in my name and my husband thought it was hilarious that I had to go to the bar all the time for drinks so be smart and get card in your other half's name.!!!!!! You have to sign a receipt at bar for drinks

I did ask if it also worked for the gym and they said yes - I'm don't catually believe them on that one but who knows

Re the free meal for more than 2 or 50% for 2 people - I may be thick here but your better off with 50% at all times arn't you? Can I obtain 50% off the whole bill?

If there are two of you,you get 50%  off all food and then they add drinks on.If you and Michelle went with your 2 kids,you get food for one person free.They also only allow you to use one card per table as we thought about getting our friends one but they would need to sit at a separate table from us.Crazy I know but that's Polaris.Still great value.What Apartment number are you?Think you might be apartment below us.We are Jardin 4,Apt 348.Hope this helps

Just back on Sunday after 12 days and had a great time.Next out for two weeks on June 9th.Totally depressed at the moment  with this horrible weather and can't wait to get back out there.Have a great time and hopefully we'll meet up soon.

Firstly Lyn I thought you could have two free meals & two paid meals on the same card. I was under the impression & I may be wrong , that  you pay for the  2 most expensive meals & the 2 cheaper ones are free.

I  too paid for our card & so had it in my name & yes I too had to make the patments & sign the recipit

However I have not had to sign any of the recipts in the supermarket on Condad or Mar Menor & Ham paid on both occasions

Personally I think its excelebt value. We were over on the 2nd of March & as we have to pass the Mar Menor resort & as our flight arrival was after 10pm, rather than driveing all the way to Condado I used the voucher for the 3 night stay @ half price

The room was great. We chose the breakfast inc package  which was a  free offer @ the time but could only be used mid week whixh was ok as we were arriving on the tuesday.

The food was buffet style & excelent, there were lots of super goodies in the bathroom..Most if not all the rooms have balconies with table & chsirs which look over the pool & golf course. Ham has back problems, he had the free massage which normally cost 50 euros.

They do have two bed suits & interconecting suits & may have family rooms too. Naturally the prices will more.

We still have a voucher for a payment of 70euros per night  & the 1 night free plus the golfing vochers to use.

All of the rooms are almost south facing & are large.. We will deffinatly  have another  card next year when this one expires but Ham can have his name on it. Oh & pay for it too.

The Family card.  again I thought there was one which would be ideal for us  but never thought about it  when I  ordered ours

When I used the card there were only two of us present and we got 50% off food bill and then they put our drinks on the bill.I was told by restaurant manager and it also tells you on terms and conditions of card that if there are say 4 people there,you do not pay for one person's food but rest is normal price.Therefore best value is if there are only two of you.

I only used card in bar and restaurant and I had to sign receipt each time it was used.I was told by other people that their partner had used their card and were not challenged however one of our friends was told that card could only be used by cardholder and she should apply for separate card for her partner.

Agree it is great value.

Did you get your terms & conditions in English

Our pack was  in spanish & though it was easy to work out what the vouchers were for , even trying the translation site. I am still none the wiser. as to the remainder of it

Like you there has only been the two of us  but yes, we were charged full price for our drinks but I had been made aware of this during my telephone conversat ion

I wa also told ( wrongly ) that other members of my family could use the Polaris card . in the clover & supermarket. Hacing had to sign in the Clover though not in the supermarket my son is reluctant to " chance it "

It just relates to the card holder. But you can use it in the supermarket and at a table where there are two people (doesnt work as half price for a table of four). The card has a name on it so therefore its for that person- the paperwork says everyone else has to have their own card. You can book one night in a Intercontinenal Hotel, room only, for free and three nights at a reduced rate. You can use the facilities, sauna and spa (card holder) for the free one night offer. You can use it in the bar (Clover and card holder) So if you use all those places  as a couple you may see a benefit but 'm not sure its really as good as they say to recoup your outlay and then see 'free' opportunities. Depends how often you eat out, drink in the bars and use the Supermarket. We already get an owners discount for the golf so its not applicable there.

I printed information from the Clubpolaris.com website.I still don't have my card yet.I was told on Friday that card machine had broken down and it was on its way but it doesn't really matter if you have your membership email with you.I can understand why your son is a bit wary about using card,my two daughters feel the same.Looking forward to receiving hotel vouchers etc .Glad you and Ham enjoyed your nights at Mar Menor.Look forward to seeing you sometime soon.

Which hotel would you say was better for a family to use for a one nights stay?

If you dont want to use polaris (who have not done us any favours) try the 525 hotel in Los Alcazares which is superb, in the middle of the action and only 70E when we went.

What I meant to ask was if using the free hotel voucher from buying the discount card which Polaris Intercontinental Hotel is better and a more family oriented resort?

Its Michelle Birthday on Easter Sunday - I've booked Quad Biking in the S Espuna for a few hours and was thinking of taking her to one of the hotels after it - We will have the kids with us as its Easter Holidays and if they are happy that'll make all the difference

I think the pool area at Mar Menor is nicer, but La Torre hotel is bigger and there is far more bars and restaurants to enjoy there, so I would go to La Torre!

Graham,

I would back up what Darren is saying there. The Inter-Continental is very nice on both resorts, but now La Torre is complete with all the restaurants up & running and the hotel in place, the place has a very good feel to it with a 'town square' type set out. The outlook from the hotel pool area over the lake and golf course at La Torre is first class.

Eventually, we may get the same/similar at Condado hey ?
