We have got to separate the community from the owners...... I am sure the owners would like us to give them money with no say in the boardroom about where it is spent or what the future is.
The golf course is completely separate as it was with Polaris and we have no say about it.
They can't have any of my money!

Even "Remedy Oak" started off with a timber tempory club house which I used a couple of times, anything similar would be fine by me.(I think it was used for almost 2 years) Bar come coffee shop, toilets and changing rooms, table and chairs outside.

Yes Skell.... I agree with you 100%.... I remember the Temp Clubhouse at Roda. It was ideal...that is just what we need .... . At least the Spanish are good at one thing and thats designing wooden shacks and temporary buildings.
And just think at least we wont have only the Clover to go to for a drink and listen to the annoying loud music and be served by the flipsy flopsys..... I can just hear the the knock of the golf club onto the ball as the players tee off, God I wish I was there now. Roll on end of June for my next trip..... We must think of this as a positive sign as its better than what we have now which is ...... not a lot.

I think the banks/new owners of the course will see a quality clubhouse as a definite requirement for the course to be viewed as a top class facility. They'll pay for one because it'll bring in more revenue from golf and would include a bar and restaurant which could be used by residents/visitors to generate more revenue.
I'd expect most people would rather head to a clubhouse and have a bar overlooking the golf course and the final hole than in an enclosed area where the Clover is.
And if you were going to build, now is as good as time as any costswise. All depends if the banks want to just sell the course or develop it and then sell it off (and if they have the spare cash).

I see this as a real step forward- even just tidying the area and opening up a pro-shop where you could also pay. But if this is to be a bit more than that and provide somewhere to get a drink and toilets and washing facilities that will be great- with the area improved and tarmacadamed.
Just one point/query, I read that barney111 says that this temporary clubhouse is to be overlooking the lake, which does suggest it will have a bar as thats a good viewing speck- but this also suggests to me that it is on the rise of land that was designated for the original clubhouse. If so I expect it will be in situ for a long time as thats the best spot for a pemanent club house too and I cant see they would be taking it down any time soon to build a new one. However, maybe someone on the resort can better identify the location of the temporary clubhouse

I keep hearing mention of "The Bank" developing areas of Condado, such as the clubhouse, Al Kazar etc.
Unless things work differently in Spain to the rest of the world, the banks have aquired the property in payment of bad debt, their only concern is the recovery of that debt for their shareholders and will off load once the market picks back up.
So in my opinion the Banks are never going to directly invest further money into Condado, that is not their business.
Private investors such as Ola Golf however will and it is Ola who are likely to build any clubhouse.

Its interesting to read Ola golf will attend the AGM and we should get some information minuted. At least we will get up to date information from 'the horses' mouth so to speak rather than from a member of staff who may have misunderstood. Do you know I was recently asked by someone if it was true that a nightclub was going to open on the groundfloor of one of the 'tower blocks' on the resort!? They actually meant the Penthouses but that just shows how a rumour can grow legs.
Further to Phil's post- Polaris World still own the Al Kasar so its only them that can develop/lease out the units in there.

Tony, nightclub is coming - next door to your apartment I hear!!
Serious note, spoke with one of the staff from Olagolf, there was consideration of a "clubhouse" rather than "nightclub" in a penthouse ground floor apartment, but this has been canned. Work will start shortly on a "temporary" club house overlooking the 9th/18th which should be completed by September, there was an initial issue in that Polaris had not included ownership of the area where the clubhouse was to go to the banks when they gave them the course (not clever from the banks point of view!!), and were refusing them permission for a clubhouse! It has apparently now been agreed, and the clubhouse will include a bar and cafe, plus proshop etc. Fingers crossed that the info from Olagolf is better than we used to get from Polaris!! I will be interested to hear what they say at the AGM, wish I was there.

Useful news Ted thanks.
I may have mellowed a tad since my early posts about ' neighbourly' noise but I think I would still find a night club next door a bit of an irritation!!.
It is curious that Polaris had planned to keep hold of that bit of land, so I wonder how they expected Olagolf to take in fee's etc for the golf- unless Olagolf had leased the pro shop.. I doubt PW would have put a club house on the Olagolf run course so our golf course wouldnt have had anything like the good aspects of the Polaris retained golf courses. Plus they obviously want revenue made from only their retail/beverage outlets.
Anyway interesting news and hopefully it'll look as good as it sounds.

I am still concerned that this temporary clubhouse will end up as a permanent feature - I understand what is being said about temporary not being a portakabin but having seen the plans for the original design I do feel we have been well and truely screwed.

Well hopefully the temporary clubhouse gets the sort of numbers through it that make it a no brainer to build a bigger permanent one with more facilities.
But I could live with anything in the short term that allows you to grab a pint straight after your round while watching the other groups finish. Lets just hope that they set it up as an attractive alternative to the Clover.

A recent post on one thread commented that the 'temporary' clubhouse on another resort had been far better than a portakabin or a small log cabin. It also seems there's a suggestion that the area around will be tidied and laid to proper car parking. So it will be interesting to see the end result.

I attended the AGM on Saturday, but unfortunatley Ola Golf or the Banks were not represented, so any questions on the Clubhouse status could not be answered.
Over the week-end I met a guy who works for Ola Golf who confirmed what I think has already been posted by Barry.......Work on "Temp clubhouse" will be started next month & will be completed for use in September. The structure will include changing rooms, shower, pro-shop & bar area.
Clearly not what we want in the mid~long term, but it has to be a better short term soloution than current!! With the Clover not opening now until 3.00pm, it basically means you cannot get a pint after a morning round of golf - a diasgrace. Fast Forward a month or 2 when the temperatures will be knocking on 40 deg......a shower & a pint will be a "must", so at least we will get something in a decent location over looking the 18th green / lake. Key point is how long we will have to wait.........but the banks (current owners) are not going to be putting in the £2m or so required for a pucka clubhouse, Ola Golf are only managing the course etc, so they will not........so we need to wait until the course is "sold-on" is my forecast on that. Could be years that, so the temp clubhouse is the only game in town right now.
I played the course on Sat & Sun - a great test of golf, particulalry on Sat pm when the wind was up. Sun morning was still, no wind, but A game still needed to score well. The course was generally in a good condition. Not much, if any work being done on it over the week-end (including greens being cut) but they were all out in force again on Monday morning. Greens still excellent. Course still very quiet, despite whit week - most punters still opting for the twighlight tee times
Cheers
Nick
