Yep, what a great thread, who's a clever boy/fat old bloke2 ?
So to sum it up, we all acknowledge we haven't exactly got what we paid for, but it seems we've got some things that weren't promised as well (friends, community spirit etc), and what we have got (when it all works) is pretty damned good.
Roll on the improvements to Al Kasar, The golf course and clubhouse, and the volume control in The Clover, if not then I've got a lovely terrace with a great view of a pool and garden - can't wait for this time next week
So if we see anyone getting down on what they've purchased (and they have a right to be down if they bought for different reasons to those who've posted on this thread) then bring this thread back to the top as a salutary reminder about the good & great things about CdA ......... glass 80% full must go and top it up then ..........

Reason I bought on Condado... I was able to turn 125K euros into 75K Euros in 2 years! Meaning I pay far less Capital Gains Tax!
Every Cloud!!

Unlike some I bought for the long term and did not purchase simply to speculate on the property market and so capital gains tax is not an issue nor is any reduced rental income due to limited facilities.
I chose to by on CdA because it was a bolthole in the sun, overlooking well maintained gardens and a pool. Guess what? I got what I paid for, and in my opinion more!!!!
Ok it will be great when there are more facilities but for now I love our 3 bed apart. (YES 3 BED, apartment, where else could I have got a ground flr 3 bed apart along the coast for the money i paid?)
And due to the security I am happier letting my daughters nip to the supermarket to buy the fresh bread each morning for breakfast than I am at home!
I love it, I am happy with what has been delivered and I intend to keep it for a long time when I am sure facilities will improve and the value will get better.

Daniels & Jay05 .......... come on now, play fair, at least Darren & tomgorge gave reasons for buying even if they haven't been fulfilled to their liking (tho i do like the CGT reason) - there is a separate thread for moaners to post about moaners you know
I think the consensus remains that for 95% of the people who post on here, then they bought for long-term and are delighted with what they've got........
However the people who bought off plan to rent or to flip at a profit (and all developments in both the UK and Spain need these people to get schemes off the ground) have caught a pretty bad cold and are going to have to tough it out - I suspect there are lots who have just mothballed their place and therefore never look at a website such as this .... we'll never know the true % but i suspect the % of buyers on CdA who are unhappy for different reasons is a lot higher than the 5% who do post on here. The marketing by CdA was aimed at renters, flippers and long term owners, and unfortunately the worst financial storm since the 30's has caught a lot of people out............. but they also enabled us to get our little piece of sun at a great price by being in at the start.

If you had waited you would off got 3 bed yes a 3 bed ground floor ap for 30% less
i am so glad of all you positive people because i must admit i get quiet down
thinking of the loss in value ,and lack of facilities but may be that's just me
don't mean to moan, no ones fault but my own i wish you all the best (yes i do think its a beautiful place but could be so much better)

Shampers! Great post! Also thank you for opening a special thread for all those people who like to moan about moaners! Not that I wish to moan about those people who moan about moaners, just glad they have their own thread!..... Keep up the great work!

Oh for heavens sake- why ruin a great thread?
So you're disappointed DW and TG and I suspect there are many others disappointed that the facilities aren't what they expected, But, maybe you gambled, if so you lost out in the short term. Maybe you just had high expectations- well, so did a lot of others but the credit crunch did for that- not Polaris. But its done no going back and for many others on other resorts its just the same- so you are not alone. Except they have things half built every where so feel sorry for yourself but be realistic. I expect PW 'bit off more than they could chew' and its likely there would have always been problems with their CdA 1 and 2 scheme but even so they didn't see into the future any better than any other developer.
For a very brief period, as a family we were 'in the know' and the message was that CdA was to be a huge suburban spread of properties surrounding the 3 golf courses- where's the heart in that? Getting in at the start was the way to go- but around each golf course there would have been new and slightly different properties that would always have made it difficult to 'flip' the original apartments and so holiday rental was the key.
It's time to get real and sit it out if selling is your aim. My last couple of visits have convinced me that Condado as a smaller resort has bags of holiday rental potential; otherwise- imagine the Dos Mares shopping mall at the corner of our resort and the cars, visitors and crime that would come with it. Polaris will build again, but on a smaller scale I'm sure.
I have as much reason as anyone to truly dislike the place and the fact facilites haven't materialised but actually I really like going there and have real hope for the future -credit crunch or not. The Clover needs sorting but otherwise there's a lot to be said for being a smaller resort- good things in small packages!.
