The young man who appeared last week in the bar put cushions out yesterday and started putting up the umbrellas.
It is much better now unless you have to go inside to order a drink and face the flipsy flopsies!
After the golf the girls had to bring thir own tapas as you can't get any in the bar.

Someone have to address this situation. I went down to The Clover on the last day of the premiership to watch the football. No chance. No one at the pub, just the flip-flops in their tops with their music on...
Outside, we were told by some friends that everyone was at Camposol. And just right, at Camposol the pubs and bars were crowded with people watching football from five screens! Just what we had wished for at our own pub.
The management at The Clover clearly don´t understand their market. They run an irish pub, not a spanish disco bar! At other resorts in the area (like La Torre, El Valle, La Manga Club) they put up blackboards with all upcoming football matches. At Kenellys on Camposol they are already marketing the World Cup.
We need the football. The Cover needs the football. Can someone get this sorted? What can be done?
Regards, Tom Erik

Someone needs to her your message loud and clear.
The Al Kazar needs atmosphere we spend our money at Camposol because of Value not quality. (most anoying because someone has to drive). but hey until value comes then thats what we will continue to do.
Wake up Polaris world and smeel the roses.

Couldn't agree more Tom Erik
Hope this issue is raised at the AGM.
Failing any result there, I hope our 'new clubhouse' will provide for our sporting needs and like all good clubhouses become the hub of activity on Condado.

Why do football fans think the world wants to watch the premiership? I hate football, but love attractive women and music. The clover is the one thing Polaris have accidentally got right!
In fact last time I was in the clover there was a Barcelona game shown on the screens? Would you go into your local pub in England and expect to see the Murcia Vs Cartegena game?....When in Spain.

The last time I checked, Spain had qualified for the World Cup
I would settle for an acknowledgement by the Clover that the tournament is indeed taking place
God forbid that Spain win the bid to host the 2018 World Cup as Condado would deny its existence !

Don't take it personal Darren,
For the second time this year, I agree with you ( shock horror )
I have zero interest in football, and couldn't give a hoot if it was on at the clover, and if football was on I would of expected it to be showing Spanish matches ( after all folks we are in Spain ). If I had wanted to watch UK soccer then I would of bought in Benidorm or Camposol! The Clover is not supposed to be a "Sports" bar, that would be the old "Surgery" or Manzana bar by the now closed sports centre. But I guess they should cater for the needs of thier customers, so until the sports bar reopens or the clubhouse is built it wouldn't hurt them to show a little. Also, remember, we do not have full SKY at Condado, i don't know exactly what extra channels they have in Clover so perhaps they just don't have UK footy?
Closing point. The Clover is a Polaris World property, not a communty asset. The AGM is a community meeting to discuss community matters, this should not be seen as an opportunity to "Polaris Bash" . Marian will be the only Polaris rep there, but in her capacity as Level 1 president not as a Polaris employee. So if you want to complain about the facilities that Polaris are/arn't providing save it until the "Any other Business" session, after we have got the major points covered.
Phil.
P.S Remember that the presidents have complained frequently to Polaris about all this, it's nothing new, you don't have to wait until an AGM to complain. Complain to your garden president, that's what they are there for, we do get things changed, but with Polaris it just takes a little longer, or in the case of smoking the treat of legal action.

Up till about October we did seem to have a channel that showed more English football on the Polaris box, then it disappeared much to the disgust of my husband who loves his football. ! He would love to be able to go to the Clover to watch more matches over a couple of pints but he often drives down to Camposol to watch. He has commented that the bars are full and the tills are chiming- and that should be whats happening at The Clover because like the football or not it would bring Polaris a fair profit and the place would be busy.
In a general defense of the place however the only time we had any problem at all was when the tills went down and they couldnt calculate the discount for the Polaris Card and all the adding up and taking away produced go slow and stop service. Oh- and New Year when they didnt have enough staff on and were taken by surprise by people celebrating and wanting to buy beer!

Well maybe i was not clear
Main football matches creates atmosphere -
obviously polaris are not concerned about the lack of atmosphere
other investers for the surrounding units are not interested in an area with no people no atmosphere so the ghost town will continue.
So we will continue to fund Camposols bars in the meen time so they may just pull through the hard times however we may not.
Spend money on your own town center if you think your getting value.
For me and is only my opinion - Al kazar has bags of potential is stunning but under acheiving massivly.
it doesn't have to be football but this would help it does need atmosphere i think most would agree.

Hi
Further to the points about showing the football in the Bar, I agree that people wouldn't want football on all the time and that Spanish football wouldn't be shown in England.
I do feel though that the Bar is large enough that you could chose which side to sit if you didn't want to watch it and as someone has previoulsy mentioned the weather is pretty good over there so outside is an option. Throughout Spain English football is shown and not just in what would be described as lads pubs. It is also shown in bars frequented by mainly Spanish.
It is a shame that people have to go to Campasol to watch the match. Using myself as an example, in the past I have gone to Campasol with fellow residents, which means that someone has to drive(fortunately it wasn't me) and also means leaving the family who do not want to watch behind.
If it was availble in the Clover all my family would go up and even though I would for 90 minutes be unsociable, we would still be mostly together. Thus meaning more money for Polaris.
Although I would prefer not, the music could be kept on for those who don't want to hear the match, as I would prefer to have football with no commentry than no football.
I know my wife, who doesn't want to watch football, would much prefer the option of me being close by while she has her evening constitutional.
Anyway, they are my thoughts, from an obvioulsy football biased man!

Now I want everyone to think long and hard about this but instead of a sports bar which all my married life I have had to go to or search out every holiday to watch Arsenal play - why don't we make the Cover a DOCUMENTARY BAR instead.
I guarantee it will be the only one in the whole wide world. Whaddayathink folks.

I for one would love the football to be on at the clover, gutted it is'nt, it would definitely bring atmosphere to the place, this is why we need a second bar at the al kazar, one which shows the football and one, the clover, that doesn't. Whenever we went on holiday I would search out a bar that showed the football and the family would be having a few drinks outside, once the football finished the men would join them and spend a great afteroon socialising. It's also a great way to break the ice with people and have a laugh. It looks like we'll be spending our money at camposol watching the world cup, 6 of us, polaris losing out again.
Chris.

I have to agree that from a purely commercial point of view Polaris are shooting themselves in the foot by not having football shown in the bar. But I would also agree with those non-footballers that I wouldn't really want to see the only pub we have with a blackboard showing which five games of football are being shown each Saturday. In saying that, I'm sure they could compromise and show the football in one half of the bar and something else (or have TV's off) in the other half.
The real problem is that there is only one bar and no matter what they do they'll alienate someone. Though that doesn't seem to bother the management at the moment as no one seems happy with what they are doing!!

Come on people, this isnt another place to comment on the merits of soccer on tv.
It is about customer service something PW know nothing about from the top to the bottom and what we as owners can do something about it.
there are posts here re the golfers trying to do a presentation and asking for the music to be turned down and the bar staff turning it up, about a mixed age party being rude to by the bar staff (like it or lump it attitude)
It is this that the issue is about. If I go in my local and no one is watching what is on tv (customers that is) then I ask for the channel to be changed and it is done!
The service is poor and unfriendly even when you make the effort to order in spanish (that is if you get that far and get the staff to come and serve you).
We are between a rock and a hard place as they know that if we dont go in the Clover we are going to loose it.
So come on you presidents etc, it is not about football it is about customer service and when PW change their attitude on this we will all be a lot happier.
Paul

Why oh why are you all so obsessed with TV and Football, your on holiday for godsake and shouldn't really have time to watch footy or anything else for that matter. I get enough of it at home and I am quite glad it is not on in the clover. There are other things that could be shown and no I don't mean soaps. Cartoons for the kids, MTV would be good, you men cant monopolise the whole resort, you've got your golf course.
This is supposed to be a family area not a boozer for you men. I would like some decent music low enough so you can here yourself think and have a decent conversation without having to shout but loud enough so you can enjoy it.
Why are us brits so obsessed with TV?
