We bought all ours in the UK and shipped out with the rest of our furniture in March 09 on the basis we could shop at leisure in UK and benefit from researching best prices via known outlets that offerred good discount as well as online prices.
We bought same make and model that were available in Spain (so that at least if repairs required then parts should be available) and saved enough on the purchase price by buying online that even if the fridge freezer failed and had to be replaced we would would still be in pocket! I think from memory that the same package in Spain would have been something like 1400E where we only paid £700 in UK.
Have had no problems whatsoever with any of the items and have simply plugged into uk/euro converters.
For the TV and DVD though - also bought in UK at substantial discount v Spain prices we have fitted a surge protector just in case.....
We took the risk and year on think it was the right choice. Obviously you may not be so lucky!
Having said all this I must admit the items have had limited use (couple of months worth) and the power is always disconnected when we are not there.
