Got into the details writen in Spanish, but unfortunatly I do not habla Espaniol vrry much only un poco.
Anyone got info about a translation site that I can use
It would be great if it does take place but as I like my cake & want to eat it too. I hope its not that near that we are bothered by noise.

' Listado de Comentarios' - goes someway to explaining the various reports I have read today regarding the 'Spanish' thoughts on the subject.
And unfortunately not overly positive about the project but it could be sour grapes (maybe). However, seems to be real concerns about finances and the fact that the real data/figures doesnt prove any other theme park brings in anything like numbers suggested. Plus, this project may be approved here and there but full private finance isnt agreed yet.
So, more info needed on the subject.

Must admit I am very much in the ''believe it when i see it brigade'' when i deal with Spanish stories 'propaganda' about anything that is not yet there before my eyes and touchable/in working order, hence i get neither excited about something like this or too disappointed when somethings (many) don't come to fruition.

Yes, that makes it definate then- I was right to hold off signing on the dotted line!
Although, if the land was owned by PW and then passed to the Banks how come the farmers are still working it anyway?
I'm with Shampers on this one and as others have posted more information is needed rather than just comments in the media. Read yesterday that it was almost 6 years from start to finish before Disney Paris started taking paying customers so even if this actually happens in Murcia it'll be a while before owners would see any real income from it.

I assumed it meant that some farm land would be subject to compulsory purchase orders. The Spanish media did not invent the news. That is categorically the case. I emailed Paramount in Los Angeles yesterday and they confirmed the press release was correct.

Hi all, I work on large high profile projects and these are on the Architects / designers drawing boards (now computers) for years. Then the Tendering process starts, Main contractors appointed. Then Tendering starts for the subcontractors...................... and on it continues. I guess the approximate 6 years start to finish may not be too far out. All very early days, I'm currently working with Spanish contractors at Heathrow, if I find out anything I'll let you know.
If it does go ahead it will be a long wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Arlene I wasnt meaning to suggest it was still all rumour and speculation just that we are along way from anything concrete(!) I know its been in the news and on the internet- I've been following that. But, what I have read is only that there are 'agreements' that to me means things are a long way from the first clump of earth being dug and that it could still come to nothing. But, I hope it happens as I know many people would see such a big improvement in property values and income and of course we may possibly see some building from PW. Though they'd have to buy back land to do that.

Hi
I agree with Shampers that I'll believe it when I see it. However, if it does go ahead and work starts, although it may take six years, I think property prices will start to rise pretty much straight away and will start generating interest in the area although I hope it is the right sort of interest. Renatl oportunity will come much later.
I'm sitting on the fence at the moment as although I think the project will be good for the area I have grown to really like the slow Spanish way of life here and would hate it if the current pace of life here became too hectic and commercialised. We need to have a happy balance.

I don't think anyone thought that an entire amusement park would spring up in 6 months...just look at corvera airport. The rumours on that must have started 7-8 years before its due to open (at a guess). A 6 year time period for "paramount" would seem as good an estimate as any.
But I also don't think the benefits to CDA (if it is built close) would necessarily need to wait until the park opened. I would imagine both PW, the banks and Olagolf would want to be able to take advantage of it from day one. This would mean getting facilities upto scratch (or getting facilities fullstop (depending on your view)).
Although I do agree any improvements or additional works would only come after the paramount project gets to a stage where its a near certainty to be completed.
How depressing would it be to have a half built amusement park out the back of our half built resort. The views from La Isla would be something.
I'm optimistic about the project but given recent economic events and the various comments on the viability I would give it about a one in three chance of happening.

With the Spanish i find ..............
1) Things get lost in translation
2) They tell you what you want to hear to make you go away happy
3) They tell you what you want to hear to get some money off you
4) They tell you what they've been told by the security man, whose wife heard it from the local farmer, who'd been promised it by the local politician, who'd told it to the farmer's wife as he left her bed, who'd advised him if he didn't then her mates' brother's son's girlfriend's pen-pal wouldn't be allowed to leave Russia to marry Brad Pitt ..................
Clearly I've exaggerated a bit on no4, and there is obvioulsy some truth in the story, but jeez a project of this magnitude is a long way from happening, but hey guess what
I'm still delighted with my purchase, as i didn't buy to flip, i didn't buy for capital growth, i bought it to have holidays in a wonderful setting for the next 30 years ............. which i'm having 6 times a year and loving it ........... do i want a Paramount theme park next door? Actually i probably don't (NIMBY), but hey if it happens i'm sure there'll be benefits !!!!!!!

Hi All
I agree with your sentiments Dave (Shampers)
I would probably rather Paramount didn’t develop as I bought our apartment to be in a less commercial area.
Yes I would like CDA to be developed along the lines of the original plans but clearly that isn’t going to happen at the moment but in the long term I believe it will in some form or other.
I do understand those who would like to see Paramount happen, particularly those that bought to generate rental income. If it was to happen it would increase the value of our properties but that is secondary to me as like Dave, bought to enjoy my place in the sun and not for business or quick profit.
For me if Paramount is built it would depend on how well it is done, not just the park but how the surrounding area is developed and how tasteful it is.
Worst case scenario for me would be an apartment that turns out to have been an excellent investment surrounded by kiss me quick hats, as I would have to sell and start again which I would rather not have to do.

Phil, Shampers,
I cannot understand your logic, they can build whatever they like around us, we will still be a gated community and will only be as loud as we allow renters to be, altough hopefully there will be a lot more rentees available than there are at the moment. I cannot see anything but positivity from a large theme park on our doorstep. Bring it on and as quickly as possible!
