Hi
Can anyone give me any idea how much we will have to pre pay for tank of petrol for smallish hire car at Murcia airport - have car hired for 4 days in June.
Have couple of options and just wondering which one would be cheapest.
thanks

Hi,
We were over last week and used Sol-Mar. We picked the car up with half a tank of petrol and had to return it with the same amount so no paying in advance for a tank of petrol.
There is no Solmar desk inside Alicante airport but they pick you up outside and take you to the compound just a few minutes away.

Hi all,
I have been getting quotes of around £300 for 2 weeks car hire in August. Could anyone please tell me if these quotes are reasonable? Car size Economy with full - full fuel policy and the usual T&C's.
Thanks in advance,
keeve

Hi Keeve
Just had quote for €318 for 13 days in august, pick up Alicante and drop off Murcia - this with Do You Spain and Auriga Crown - Renault Clio 5 door.
Have found that if you keep checking on DYS sometimes prices come down nearer the time you want to travel, with DYS you can cancel without charge and just rebook - have done this few times
Good luck

hi keeve
email cheapholidaycar at gmail dot com . new rental company working from cda. they use older cars, but guarantee to beat any genuine quotes and no other charges for fuell, insurance, child seats or extra drivers. they pick you from airport and car is waiting at cda, so you save more on petrol. only minus, they are small company and are very limited on number of cars.
good luck

Thanks Viv and mgu, I'll follow up on these leads.
Viv, if picking up at Alicante and dropping off at Murcia, have you booked 2 single flights and if so do you get a good deal this way?

Have just checked out Solmar and no mention of receiving the car half full with return the same, what they actually say is:-
"Fuel: Clients must pay for a full tank of fuel on collection and return the vehicle empty. It is only possible to get a refund when returning with a full tank of fuel when the rental duration is 3 days or less. The charge for a full tank of fuel varies depending upon the vehicle type. Please note: Due to refuelling logistics you will be charged at a higher rate per litre compared to the normal pump price". (www.solmar.com)
How did you set up that arrangement Sandra?
Also tried www.cheapholidaycar@gmail.com but it seemed to go to a variety of sites for 'cheap holidays cars' and a site about advertising your business.

Hi Keeve
we sometimes do this, it may work out cheaper but did it because of flight times, we have kids going back to school next day and the flight out of Murcia was same price as the Alicante one going home but leaving much earlier - then Ryanair changed the times and now its the same time as the Alicante one - dont get back to Dublin till midnight!

Hi Jann,
On the Solmar Home Page on the right hand side under the fuel pump symbol it states that you return the car with the same amount of fuel as you picked it up with. We didn't have to make a special arrangement. Seemed to work for us.

I had a bad experience with Auriga Crown when hiring from Alicante airport. They want a 360 euro deposit which is refunded at the end of the hire as long as the car is in the same condition. However you end up losing out due to bank charges

Came back from CDA two weeks ago also used Auriga Crown, from Murcia Airport, just checked bank statement and we've lost out around 20 e due to bank charges, what a rip off. To top that they also charged us an over inflated price for the petrol. Never use them again!

Tried to book car through cheap holiday car company based in CDA, they certainly quoted great price but when I got back to them they were fully booked - am going to try to cancel car hire with Auriga Crown and try and get one with any other company

Hi,
We have booked our car hire with the new car hire company on CDA for 18 days. Gregor is picking us up at airport with car and you only pay for the fuel you have used. Will advice at end of hol if everything went well.

Sorted,

Hi Alison & Simon
We used Gregor from www.cheapholidaycar.co.uk/ and everything was fine the cars are not new but he tells you this on the website and the one we had was great I was a bit dubios when we booked as we are on Terrazas And did not know he operated from Condado but this was no problem for him and he had the car waiting for us when we came out of the airport a great price and no extra charge for a second driver or upfront charges for the fuel. To sumup I would say just don't expect a brand new gleaming car not for the price you pay after all he is providing cheap car hire as a alternative to the big car hire companys and there associated costs
Regards
Graham
