What you need to understand that i relation to Mazzzeron Market. Condado is still a baby. only just learning how to crawl. in the future it will learn to walk then run & eventually sprint. I am happy to wait & watch these events haapen. better slowly that to dash into something only to see it fail
Well done everyone. Pity we were not there
Re car parking spaces. They were intended for the golfers not staying on Condado
With all of the talk of the golf trail re starting & hopefully a golf club soon ( fingers crossed & i`m not a golfer) all of those empty spaces will I hope soon fill up. It was a great idea to have those parking spaces already available. Better that they are in place now that for every thing to go pearshape due to the lack of them when they are needed

Good to hear that everything ran relatively smoothly for the first time but if the market traders have increased their prices this can only spell disaster as the locals will not return and just wait and go to the Mazzaron market on Sunday morning. This issue may have to be addressed and promptly before it dies a death.

Jan,
There are far too many parking spaces around the perimeter for just outside golfers. It was always the intention to have a signiture course that would be able to stage professional tournaments and the car parking was designed for spectators for these tournaments among other things.

Our market was brill compared to the market in the port. Plenty of customers and choice even if it is slightly dearer. Saved plenty of petrol money and time.
Also I didn't have to keep my hand on my wallet or watch moroccans laying out their sheets with DVD's and then running away when the police arrived.
Definiely an upmarket market if there is such a thing!

Didnt notice that the prices were high, we got 4 lettuces for a euro and loads of other stuff for the normal prices. Ok I agree that some of the drinks in the Clover are a bit over the top ( stick to the buckets of beer like me ) but hopefully things will change in a few months time. And don't forget the Manazana bar should be opening in a couple of weeks to give them some competition. As others of said, this is our first Market, hopefully it will get the support to grow into bigger and better things. For me I'd rather go to the Market in the evening on Condado than swelter in the Sunday morning heat fighting the crowds in Mazarron.

Obviously a market on your doorstep will appeal to you it is in an area you know.I was speaking to a lot of brits on my way round and the impression I got they wont be going back, and if they did they would not be buying drinks in the bar.you need to ask yourselves is there enought people with homes there to make it work every week.It certainly did not save me petrol as I had to drive further than going into the port. But I wish you well with it,and its advantage is that it is on in the evening.
Also would be interested to know what the cost of advertising was,as they were posters every were some which have been removed as they were a bit of an eye sore, als

The security may have seemed red hot in passing, but judging by the cars turning up for the market that were filling the apartment spaces nearest the market, I'd say it was more lukewarm. Especially as it was possible to roam free once in there, we didn't get approached once when walking past security to and from our apartment. The parking spaces intended for the golfers would have been much more apt for the market, it seems a waste of police and the Securitas' time orchestrating a market within the resort.
We were by the pool and could hear the music (word for word) coming from the generator powered speakers that obviously been nicked from a headline gig in Hyde Park. Luckily though, the DJ had a good selection of music - about four terrible songs on repeat. Apparently passengers on easyjet flights landing at San Javier could hear the music as they exited the plane, it was that quiet.
A market is a good idea, and having wandered around, there were a handful of decent stalls (fruit, meat, flowers, rocking horse stand etc) but that was about it. Couldn't see the point in the music or the dance that occured halfway through, didn't really pick up the brilliant vibe either, I must have missed that part. The restaurant was also booked out because it was under staffed so residents looking to go out for a meal had to pick up takeaways instead and eat them from the bar next door.
Don't mean to rain on the parade but this is my take on it. I'd say move it to the car park outside and get traditional spanish music and dancers involved if the market organisers want to put that slant on it.

Moggy, am i missing something ? you go to a market and give a negative view of a near by bar??? Been down to the market in the port and most times only brought couple euro worth of fuit a veg, certainly not worth the petrol money but hey if i was that tight i'd get an allotment (do they do them in spain lol) anyway my point is you go for the experience, everyone loves the hussle and bussle and who knows you may just spot the bargain of a lifetime ( i wish ) Anyway love the market in the port but have you seen the prices of the channel bar ??? We took 12 guests of ours to the recent Camposol fiesta ( albeit on the sunday evening) and the wanted to go back to the clover within half an hour, i liked it but it's horses for courses.

Hi Dakey
Yes I am aware that the parking places were there for spectators too
& who knows in the future we might see those spaces full. Here in the UK .
In the last week four of the large companies her in the Uk have gone to the wall. One in Carpets another in clothing and another in furniture as well as a lage DIY company so naturaly that signature golf course will not be in place for a long long time but hopefully it will come to fruition in the near future

I always thought the car parks were for the many visitors there'd be to the oasis, a park and ride probably, guess there not really needed anymore. Still, they make a great alternative to going over all the speed bumps. As for the Market we thought it was great, not quite as advertised but it was something different to do without leaving the site. That can only be good can't it?

Alot more stalls, not as many visitors it would seem but as there were activities spread across Al kasar the people were alot more spread out. The market was busy right up untill 11 when it packed up. Still great security, great atmosphere and great stalls.
Complimented well with the rest of the activities set up for fiesta - which was great!

I thought market was great!
Not as many as last week when many came to have a nosey at our resort.
A lot more stalls, and attendance probably peaked around 8pm. Lots of cars parked within the gates around Al Kasar.
I have posted some pics of the paella party on www.cdagolf.com
